I don't buy cars like Eclipses solely for that reason...narrow-minded people who can't help but diss everyones car and thrive on bringing macho attention to themselves flock to those cars like lemmings. They cant enjoy other peoples cars. All they can do is razz the owners. very sad.

I love my ZX2 It has over 100,000 miles on it and I've never had any problems with it. I guess they quit making them because they were based on the Escort drivetrain and that was discontinued..that's my guess. I can say that I would much rather have a ZX2 than a ZX3 that's looks like a new version of the Ford Aspire (1994-1997)

Let's get one thing straight about Fords. They didn't acquire the saying of "Fix or repair daily" or "Found on road dead" by being very reliable vehicles.
Ford's biggest problems with their cars, were drive-trains. If it wasn't something with the motor, it was the tranny.
The Escort has a Mazda drive-train in it. Mazda's have been reliable vehicles for many years. At least they have for me. When I was told the Escort had a Mazda drive-train, I went and bought one. It has been a great little car. Never left me stranded. Has saved me so much money on gas and repairs. I just love it. It is 1.8 engine, and so nice. The automatic transmission just shifts so smooth.
Keep up on the basic maintenance, and she will not let you down.

Just to let you know whoever said fords suck THAT IS NOT TRUE! My dad drives a 1996 ford escort wagon with the 1.9 liter 4 cyl. engine hardly has any problems and almost has 160,000 miles. They are great cars. I have to agree with the review poster that why did they discunue them. I think they should discunue the focus and bring back the escort.
