2015 Ford F150 Super Crew 5.0 V8 from North America

Summary:

It is a beast of a machine!

One oxygen sensor at 200,000.

Alternator went out at 297,000.

Differential broke at 299,000.

Then at 299,700 radiator went out.

2015 Ford F150 XLT 5.0 from North America

Summary:

Best vehicle I've ever owned

Faults:

Water pump, upper radiator hose and Y-pipe at about 110k, the hose and y-pipe replaced due to o-rings which weren't available seperately then, used all Ford parts. Recently at 199k the o-ring on the steel fitting that goes into the top of the water pump split and failed, the water pump came with a replacement black o-ring, a new orange o-ring fixed that.

At about 135k a sensor on the passenger side of the block went bad, it was more work removing the tire/wheel and fender liner than it was to replace the sensor, maybe about 30 minutes from parking to putting tools away.

On my 3rd set of Michelin tires, brakes, oil, belts, I had to replace a tail light bulb, all normal wear items. It's a 5.5 foot bed, crew cab 2wd.

Due to wearing my cell phone in my left rear pocket, I wore a hole in the cloth seat seatback bolster and sliding out, the seat bottom bolster. A local upholstery shop fixed the foam and replaced the worn panels for $80 with me bringing them the seat and had it done in a couple hours.

The fog/driving light lenses are cracked/crazed, they're low and I rarely use them; if they crack out I'll replace them, but for now, I don't mind.

General Comments:

I'm ecstatic with this truck, best car I've ever owned I believe (between 25-30 vehicles). I still get 19-20 mpg in mixed driving in town and on the highway.

The paint still looks nice (Iconic Silver) and it's never been parked inside since I've owned it. It's not perfect, but after going thru club car wash on the best wash and wiped down it still looks sharp. I hope to get 300k out of it, I'll probably take the driver's seat back to the upholstery shop soon as the seat bottom middle panel is looking a little threadbare from me sliding in and out all the time.

It uses about a quart of oil every 10k between oil changes. I replaced plugs at 100k and it didn't seem to affect the performance; will probably do that again soon. The tires are about at 50% wear, probably need a new set in 35k-40k.

I wished it came with the factory rear view camera, my aftermarket one isn't great.

I wished I had put a 4/6 lowering kit on it, the seats would probably be a bit less worn and at 5 foot 10 inch it would be easier to reach over the bedsides, but I'd likely had to replace the 17" wheels with some 20's to look better.

Also, had it come with the console instead of the center jump seat, I would have probably put Katskinz leather in it and added some seat heaters.

2015 Ford F150 XLT 2.7 V6 EcoBoost from North America

Summary:

Ford did their homework on this one

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

My 2013 F-150 came off lease, so I traded it for this truck. I had the 5.0 in the previous truck, and this engine has much more low end torque. That and the lighter aluminum body makes for very decent acceleration. The truck has a very tight and solid feel to it.

I chose another F-150 because the previous truck was flawless. The truck, despite being new, achieves 22 MPG on the highway. I have total faith the aluminum body will hold up very well. It came with Ruby Red Metallic in conjunction with the chrome appearance package, and looks very sharp.

I agree on the more solid feeling! I have a 2015 with the base 3.5L V6. Great fuel economy too! I think the lower weight really changes how the truck rides (in a good way). It isn't harsh at all, but it feels sharper. Again, it is not any less comfortable (I think it improves the ride a little bit more).

I am the original reviewer and the truck currently has 8300 miles on the odometer. The truck has been flawless thus far and I still have a big grin when I get behind the wheel.
