1957 Ford F250 Pickup 223 cu in from North America
Summary:
I would love to buy another '57 F250 new
Faults:
Valve job done at 164,000; cost $90.00.
Bostrom air ride seat cover had to be replaced at 280,000; cost $100.00
Clutch pressure plate at 150,000; cost $54.00.
Leece Neville Alternator rebuilt at 225,000; cost $123.00.
General Comments:
This is without a doubt the best Ford vehicle I have ever owned, and I have owned 10.
My dislikes were split rim wheels.
My average mpg was at least 16 over the life of the vehicle and cost per mile very low; 10 per mile. Of course gas was only 28.9 cent a gallon then and went up.
The truck was very stable on or off road, and held the road well loaded, unlike my previous 51 Ford F1.
The headlights were excellent, and the halogen even better.
With no power steering, it was very easy to steer and park.
The transmission was a 3 speed HD on the floor.
The rear end was massive, however I suspect the ratio was in the low 4:00s, maybe 4:11, cause the engine turned high RPM on the highway, but 3rd gear was always enough for any hill, even loaded.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
