I love Fords. But I have to say that the 27mpg is pretty hard to believe. I am sorry, but that seems way too much for that truck.

27mpg, probably a typo. Should be 17mpg I think. Still good though. Better than my 1994 Grand Cherokee AWD with 5.2L V8 - I got 14-18mpg with that and it's a small vehicle. That Cherokee was very bad for towing (handling), but great for off-roading.

Yeah 27 seems absolutely insane, the only V8 engine I've ever heard of reaching that kind of mileage on the highway is a Buick Roadmaster with the LT1 350, and that's maybe 25 at best.

Yeah 27 sounds a little steep. Maybe he meant 24... (4 is right under 7 on the keypad right?) 24 could be feasible from what I've heard. Mine averages about 19, but it's bone stock. I hear exhaust, cold air intake, and a chip will put you in the low to mid twenties... if you keep out of it...

I agree it's gotta be 24 cause that's a lot easier to believe, and it is a diesel, those do get really good gas mileage. I get about 16-20 mpg in town depending on how I drive.

I don't believe it as a type-o. I think he was knowingly exaggerating to make his article sound better. I drive an average of 4000 miles a week hauling 5th wheels and I get better than 90 % of the guys I pull with. I have a 02 Crew Cab Dually 4x4 Manual tranny & I average 21 MPG empty & 11-14 MPG loaded. The 7.3L is phenomenal.

My only problem with my 97 F350 crew cab 4X4 is a bad shimmy I get in the front end when I am doing 45 to 50 MPH. I have had it checked many times, and have been told the front suspension is in good shape. If anyone has had this trouble, I would like to know the fix. Otherwise this is one great truck. I have 170,000 + miles on it and it runs very strong.
