2000 Ford Fairlane Ghia 4.0 VCT 6 cylinder from Australia and New Zealand
Summary:
Best Car I've ever owned, rides well
Faults:
* The rooflining is starting to drop.
* The A/C LCD Display is starting to 'flicker'.
* Some of the parts are hard to get, or are very expensive.
General Comments:
The car is excellent, and I love driving it, it's unbelievably reliable (drove to Townsville QLD in June, and then to Adelaide in S.A. for Christmas from Darwin N.T), and it's a shame that Ford have stopped making the Fairlanes, as they are extremely comfortable car on long trips interstate (but then, they are in general wherever your going!).
We averaged 8.5 litres per 100kms on the highway. I've found that they get their best economy around the 100km/h to 120km/h mark on the highway, but they don't really like stop start traffic (averaged 11.5 litres per 100kms in the city), but it's a small price to pay for a very reliable, comfortable, easy to work on and easily modifiable car (I've fitted a flow through catalytic converter and sports muffler to mine, sounds like a V8 now!)
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
