1985 Ford Falcon XF 250 crossflow from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Runs quick gets me from a to be

Faults:

Its main thing was the clutch went on it, and also another main problem with Xf's are their rear main oil seals.

I have had a few problems with the steering. I have replaced pitman arm, idler arm and the steering bow needs replacing.

I have had to fix a few door handles, but that's OK not to much of a hassle, there is also so a water leak that I will fix soon.

I have been having problems with the starter motor solenoid playing up and the starter get stuck until you push start it, but I made my on little by pass switch running from the battery directly to the starter motor and when you press then button it clicks the starter and UN sticks it, until I buy another solenoid.

But one good thing is that I am a mechanic.

General Comments:

Well she runs pretty well, and has a lot of torque.

Has unreal acceleration, and has got plenty of balls.

Pretty good and reliable car.

I have always dreamed of having Mustang 1989.But I wished it would be 4 doors so it can suit my friend or family,

When I saw the falcon XF in Australia I found the car of my teenage dreams.

1985 Ford Falcon GL 4.1 carb from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Bloody aw-some!!!

Faults:

Nothing the car was perfect.

General Comments:

Even though the drive train was stock, I still managed to beat a VT commodore. The car sat that low going around corners was never a problem, as for the wheels, it has 15" interceptors with the rears widened to 8".The largest tires I could get were 245/60/15.AW-SOME!!!I eventually put an l.s.d and performed the best donuts!!The car was citrus yellow and had the darkest windows you could imagine. It was the best car I ever had and my next XF will be turbocharged!!As soon it is finished I hope to show it to all the readers...

1985 Ford Falcon XF 4.1 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

A beefy reliable Tank

Faults:

My back rear brake is weeping brake fluid and has turned a darker color.

The seats felt limp.

General Comments:

I bought this as my first car, I'm on my P's and am 17. I don't have much experience with cars, but this car performed very well.

When I first started up the engine, it had a new exhaust system installed and it sounded beefy and on the high revs it sounded like a V8.

The model I own does not have LSD (Limited Slip Differential) so it tends to do wheelies on corners all the time.

Having a 4.1 engine this car is scary on the wet, as it shoots off every single turn, it also does the same thing on a gravel road.

Watch out all you mini coopers out there as this car might go monster trucking on you.

1985 Ford Falcon XF 4.1 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Great all round dog friendly and huge

Faults:

Just got it Falcon XF Wagon.

Wipers are sloppy.

T-Bar selector button & lock mechanism broken.

Gas struts on bonnet & tailgate are gas less.

Air conditioner not working.

General Comments:

Great roomy car with plenty of power from the 4.1 efi motor.

Could do with more leg room for the driver, but will tolerate that.

Had an EB 3.9 throttle body injected sedan which was nothing but trouble.

Long live the XF as it's great for carting the dogs around in beats driving a KA Laser!!!

Still going good except for a couple of problems. Fuel hose sprung a leak, but was able to shorten the huge length of hose to keep it going a bit longer. Exhaust flange gasket was replaced with the correct type now doesn't sound like a tractor. All it needs now is a great set of mags and a bit more TLC, but still love the car 19 this year!!!
