2006 Ford Five Hundred SEL V6 from North America
Summary:
I love my Ford 500. Even a bit under-powered, it's still a GREAT american sedan. THANKS FORD
Faults:
Since I have owned my Ford 500, I have had no problems with the car other than regular service from the dealership such as oil changes, brake changes etc.
General Comments:
This car has been great ever since I have owned it. I have always been wanting a Ford 500, and feel that it's very under-rated. It's not a sports car (of course), but the engine power will get the car moving pretty fast. I have never had problems merging onto a freeway or changing lanes. When you hammer the gas down, the transmission smoothly and quickly "kicks down" as the tach. begins to enter the 5000 rpm and over area.
Safety means a lot to me when I think about a car. The 500 has several STANDARD safety AND security features. My particular 500 has the optional traction control system, which works VERY well in the snow and rain. Along with the ABS system (anti-locking brake system), which is standard. It helps a great deal (and is VERY responsive) in the winter time when the roads are slick, and I have to slam on the brakes and turn to avoid an accident.
I also have the safety and security package, which includes the 6 airbags and perimeter anti-theft system (factory alarm), which gives me extra peace of mind when I'm driving (airbags), and when I leave my car unattended like in a parking garage (alarm system).
The factory alarm system is VERY loud if anyone has ever (on a nice summer day) left the windows rolled down and locked the car via remote, and upon returning, reached into the car and opened/unlocked the door (rather than pressing unlock on the remote first); I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.
It is a BIG car, but it looks nice on the outside. The grille and headlights, as well as tail lamps and trunk lid, flow together very well. I think the 500 is a beautiful car, and I'm younger than 25 for those of you who think it's an old folks sedan; I disagree.
LOVE IT... thanks Ford! ;-)
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

First, you don't state what your mileage is, the type of driving you do, (and also, HOW you drive, lead footed... etc.). On a good day a 500 will only get ~17-18 mpg in city driving and 22-23 on long smooth trips at ~ 70 mph.
Second, IF you think you're getting lousy mileage what, if anything have you done about it?
