1999 Ford Focus LX 5dr Hatchback 1.8 petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Only an occasional opening of the rear hatch at speed due to a faulty interior release switch; pain in the neck! 5000m so far so it's early days yet.

General Comments:

Generally a fairly good car but not as good as I expected. It consumes more fuel and is much noisier than I thought it would be especially in respect of road/tyre noise. The 1800 Mondeo is MUCH better.

CD player is excellent.

1999 Ford Focus Ghia 4dr saloon 1.8 16v zetec petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

NOTHING AT ALL.

General Comments:

Excellent driving position.

Much better than a VW.

Very good engine power.

Outstanding handling with the traction and cruise control. Perfect dealer service from Heartlands Ford Perry Barr. A wonderful car that is a hundred times better than an Escort.

1999 Ford Focus Ghia 4 Door Saloon 2.0 16v Zetec petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Engine was pinking when first new but Ford dealt with it within two days of delivery.

Excellent service from Ford since 1980 when I bought a Fiesta. I would not dream of going to another company.

General Comments:

A beautiful 4 door saloon Pepper Red vehicle that is a pleasure to drive as I have already done 25k in three months.

Excellent value for money and perfect little details such as the cruise and traction control.

1999 Ford Focus Zetec 1.6 petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Feels incredibly well put together for a Ford, nearly up there with VW. Only the quality of the plastics on the interior lets it down. Hugely spacious, even my granny can get in the back (3dr). Comfortable, powerful, great looking and the dealer (Turners of Sedgefield) has been great!!

1999 Ford Focus Ghia Estate 1.8 from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Leaking sump gasket.

Knocking on heater system (sticking valve).

Recall on alternator.

General Comments:

A very nice car, but considering it's won so many awards it's not the car I thought I was buying. It's everything you'd expect from a £15,000 car and nothing more. Out of interest my last car was a Vectra 1.8 GLS and the Focus is only now just as good as the Vectra was, but this is after owning it for six months.

1999 Ford Focus Zetec 1.8 petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Nothing so far. All in all seems a very well put together car and the build quality appears to be very good.

General Comments:

An extremely good driving position coupled with excellent handling and driving characteristics makes this the best car I have ever driven. As someone who has driven over 25 different makes/models of car, this one in particular has been the best car I've ever driven! Quite an accolade, but completely true!

The interior is well laid out and the spec on this model is quite impressive. Performance from the 1.8 Zetec engine is simply outstanding.
