2004 Ford Fusion 3 1.6 petrol from UK and Ireland
Summary:
Weird
Faults:
Auto-box trouble (expensive).
Quality problems - interior plastics broke very easily. So bad in fact it reminded me of a Fiat I had many many years ago. Expect better from Ford.
Everything else was normal wear and tear and not too much to fix. I kept the car serviced on time.
General Comments:
Slow, boring to drive, only bought this as I was into quirky Fords at the time for some reason. But then you grow up :)
It was one of the weirdest cars I had ever had. It drove weird (indifferent handling), looked weird, got weird looks, I just grew to hate it. Had weird massive pedals, much bigger than normal even for automatic.
The 1.6 was slow and barely could get 35 mpg, probably the terrible auto box was not doing it any favors.
On the plus side, it was relatively spacious and comfortable, vision inside was OK, and I liked the alloy wheels.
Looking back I have no idea what appealed to me about it, but lots of manufacturers were making quirky MPV's at this time. They say this was a hatchback but some say it was classed as a MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle); either way in my opinion it did not serve any good purpose or appeal to anyone except maybe someone who wanted very basic transport and wanted to be "cool and different" at the time. Sold it after just 2 years, will never buy anything like it again, was not exactly reliable either.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

My aunt had one of these cars with the semi auto box (manual shift with no clutch) and also said it was one of the strangest cars she ever had.
The Fusion isn't a particularly bad car, just had too many gimmicks and a few unreliable options/features.
