The figures mentioned in comment 11:25 are broken down by a few specific models and this is NOT a clear and honest reporting of actual overall sales (so what else in new? It's from an import fan). Overall GM has topped Toyota for several months now. Also, you shouldn't try to use the skewed argument that Fusion was out sold by a Dodge TRUCK. Trucks always outsell cars.

I've driven a Camry belonging to a friend of mine (I don't personally own a Camry.) He owns a 2004 Camry with a 4 cylinder. It's the base line model and has little options. It has about 90,000 on it now I believe and zero problems that I know of. It though it rode beautifully, absorbing all the bumps wonderfully. The engine wasn't a super powerhouse, but it had some pep to it and didn't struggle. Handled highway merging beautifully. I think it looks decent, it's not a show stopper, but then again, if you're talking about the Fusion being better or something, it's not to special looking either if you ask me.

Um, several months doesn't equate to the whole year now does it? If GM is selling so much better than Toyota, then why does Toyota have two cars on the top ten seller list and there are NONE by GM? That few specific models on the list are the TOP TEN CARS!! That is kind of what TOP TEN means... 10 cars...and specific ones.

Also I drive a FORD, so import fan can be left for someone else thanks. Just not afraid to look at the LONG TERM facts and not a short window of incentive induced strong sales from the domestic companies. Show me GM topping ANY list for any given year and I'll be more than happy to agree that they are outselling everyone else. But to claim that when they haven't even made any top 10 list? C'mon...you are stretching a lot!

Again a "domestic fan" stretching the tiny facts to make a huge claim. Can you never wait until the proof is solid... say for an entire yer of production, before making such claims? AGAIN, I didn't release this list CONSUMER REPORTS did. Wishful thinking is never going to make the domestics better than the imports. I wish it were that easy. Now that Toyota has removed the problem in their executive lineup they are going to get back on track... you can bet on it.

Oh, and your assumptions are far too great here with first the "import fan" line and also assuming I said anything about the Dodge truck beating out the Fusion. Obviously truck sales are heavily skewed, otherwise there wouldn't be a Ford or Chevy ANYWHERE on the top ten list at all!

I've read through all of these comments - or at least most of them - and I just have a few things to mention...

1) The Fusion is also built in the U.S., while I agree there are plants in Mexico, but the Mexican plants use the raw materials that come from America.

2) Who started this whole "The Fusion is built in Mexico" argument anyway? Some import driver. Not that that has much relevance.

3) Why does it matter?!? THIS is a review for the FUSION, not the 90/10 argument!

4) While I admit I get my information from Wikipedia; if you read closely you will notice that Toyota has requested a loan from a bank in Japan. So it's not only the U.S. companies hurting.

Lastly, I would like to say that PERSONALLY, I don't like Honda's or Toyotas. I drive Fords and GM's, and currently own two GM's with over 200,000 miles on them, and my father owns a Ford with 360,000+ miles on it. So I've had good luck with domestic brands. You can buy what you want; no one will make perfect vehicles every single time. Thank you for your time, and happy motoring!
