1992 Ford Granada Scorpio Cosworth 2.9-24Valve from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Very underrated

Faults:

Air Conditioning fan not working yet

Warped front brake discs

Fuel pump had failed when purchased

Lumpy tick-over in Park and Neutral gears

Back wheel arches starting to suffer with corrosion.

General Comments:

Having been the one Ford model I've never owned, I was absolutely shattered with the performance when pushed, it's such a sleeper until that right foot goes down.

The fuel economy can be a major problem, but I think it's worth every penny.

Absolutely no reliability problems, just niggles as listed above

Worth all the £550 I paid for her, and still looks stunning.

I agree with your comments, I never wanted to get shot of mine, but the fuel economy became an issue. they are cheap now and getting rarer as the engines are much in demand from hot-rodders (it's an easy swap into a capri 2.8)

1992 Ford Granada scorpio 24v 2.9 24v from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Thinking (poor) man's BMW

Faults:

There has been a slight loss of transmission fluid since I aquired the car, but it doesn't seem to have got any worse.

The air conditioning has also not worked since day one, but the solution to this was simply to remove the drive belt, which also releases more power as drag on the engine is reduced.

General Comments:

I never get tired of the rapid acceleration, it is one of the very few "banger territory" cars that can quite happily trounce brand new so-called performance cars. e.g, the soon to be released Mondeo ST24 is slower on acceleration and top end!!

1992 Ford Granada Scorpio 2.0i from UK and Ireland

Summary:

The best mile munching workhorse available for peanuts

Faults:

The absolute air pressure sensor packed up at 110000 and gave me no end of trouble trying to trace it. This was a very unusual fault according to the auto electrician I had to get to put it right.

Front brake discs.

Oil leak at the oil pressure switch.

Rear wheel arches are starting to rust faster than I would like.

General Comments:

Excellent value for money even though it's a 'shed'. I wouldn't go out and buy another one, but I have been looking for different car for a good few months now, but am struggling to find something which offers similar spec and value.
