2014 Ford Mondeo Titanium X 2.0 TDCi from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Ford got this car right

Faults:

Not much, if anything. Had the car one year, gave it a service, and MOT test had no advisory. Put close to 10K miles on it. The A/C is not as good as it should be, that is all I can think of.

General Comments:

Panther black Mondeo on a 14 reg, last of the older shape before the newer model. Love this design the best. The car looks amazing. Window tints, rear spoiler, 17 inch alloy wheels.

Titanium X top model. Leather seats and electric everything. Very comfortable and spacious interior.

The car is great to drive. 2.0 diesel engine is fast enough (140 bhp version) and is economical. The car handles very sharp and cornering inspires confidence.

Love it, probably the best all round car you can buy on the used market currently. Look for a nice low mileage looked after car and you have a winner.

2014 Ford Mondeo Titanium X TDCi 160 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

One of the best all rounders available

Faults:

Not very much, all the servicing had been carried out to the letter. There are some interior squeaks and rattles, but nothing serious.

New brake pads.

Suspension needs attention, there is a clunking noise sometimes, will get checked at the next service/MOT.

General Comments:

This 2014 Mondeo is the last of the older shape before the all new model came out in late 2014. I prefer this older model anyway, and got a good deal used purchase.

The 160 BHP diesel is the one to have; very nice performance and 60 miles per gallon if you take it easy. Handling is very nice. Compared to my last car, a petrol 2007 Honda Accord, performance and economy is slightly improved, though I do miss the interior and smoothness of my Honda. This Ford is a typical modern affair, with cheap plastic everywhere, and not quite as refined, ruining what could have been a very nice interior. That's not to say it is bad - it isn't, Titanium X has black leather and all the electrics, and is very comfortable, when you look past the cheaper plastics, it is about as good as it gets. Very spacious also.

Outside the car is black and probably suits it best. Bigger alloy wheels really do make a difference, but the suspension feels a little harder due to this. The car looks the part though.

Ford dealers only want to sell you a new car when you walk in, but are otherwise generally OK, but some servicing was a bit expensive for what it is - a typical rep mobile. As the car is getting older and out of warranty, I'm going to check out cheaper independent garages in future for service and repairs.

I've had it a few years and I plan to keep it a long time, as it is what the Mondeo is famous for - being a very easy car to live with, and although a common sight on the road, it is respected by those in the know. Find a nice used deal, and get the better engines and specification, and you will enjoy this car as a great all rounder for work/leisure.

I would agree; the 160 bhp 2.0 diesel engine must be the best all-rounder. I have the 1.6 diesel and it is too slow. The car is otherwise perfect.
