2016 Ford Mondeo Zetec Estate 2.0 TDCi from UK and Ireland

Summary:

OK

Faults:

EGR valve.

Coolant leak.

Oil leak.

Driveshafts.

Cosmetically rough inside and out, but I suspect it was a taxi in its earlier days.

General Comments:

Big, comfortable, spacious, nice to drive - the Mondeo estate Zetec model really is a great all round car.

They are usually a little over priced on the used market, but I got this one cheap a couple of years ago as it was rough. Some expensive repairs aside, it has been OK, but generally you should avoid the rough ex taxi cars.

But get a good one and you have one of the best cars in its class - it's hard to fault this car, it does everything very well. Super comfy seats and plenty power and economy, I do like driving and being in this car.

Still feels fresh and modern. Overall I like it and hope it lasts. They are good for high mileage - if looked after correctly.

2016 Ford Mondeo Zetec 2.0 TDCi from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Very good so far

Faults:

Not much, been told to watch out for the usual diesel troubles at higher mileage, but mine seems OK the last couple of years and I am at nearly 120K. I keep the car serviced on time and only use it for long drives which is best for diesel.

General Comments:

A modern Mondeo is a great car to own and drive. I got a great deal on mine and it has been very reliable so far.

For a 2016 model which is 8 years old at time of writing this review, the car feels as good as new. This generation Mondeo is as good as they get. The car looks and feels classy, and I am no badge snob despite coming from driving a Mercedes! I have no problems with this Ford, people in the know respect it for what it is - a good modern car that is economical and easy to own.

My car is white, bigger alloy wheels on this Zetec model, very nice. Nice inside also, all modern equipment and supportive seats. Great to drive.

2.0 TDCi is very economical, 55 mpg + and plenty of power for overtaking.

They used to be very overpriced on the used market, but are now coming down to be affordable. Look for a car with full history and good condition and go for it, you cannot go wrong, easily the best car in its class!

2016 Ford Mondeo Titanium 2.0 TDCi from UK and Ireland

Summary:

OK, but avoid high mileage cars

Faults:

Clutch, turbo, oil leak, exhaust, DPF.

General Comments:

Got a really good deal on this Mondeo due to its high mileage. It had full service history and MOT at a nice price. Drove great on the test drive. So that's why I bought it.

Highly likely it was a taxi in its early years. These cars take high mileage well, but obviously you have to expect some expensive repairs at some point. I don't regret my purchase, but it has been expensive to put right.

Interior has held up well, some wear here and there, but pretty solid for an 8 year old car with 180K on it. Titanium model is very comfortable with lots of equipment.

Looks good in black metallic on the exterior. Lots of stone chips on the front bumper and bonnet due to miles and miles of motorway travel.

The car is nice to drive, punchy engine and still does 50 mpg + on diesel.

Time will tell if it lasts, feels very modern, but it should, it is only a 2016 car, not exactly ancient, but I am just being realistic about the mileage. If I get a couple more years from it I will be happy. Tax and insurance are cheap and it is economical, plus I got it really cheap to begin with, so now going forwards it is about avoiding expensive bills. I've serviced it and it's had all required belt changes so fingers crossed it will last; I do like this car despite its roughness.

I had much the same experience as you. These are fantastic cars once you sort out the common issues, then they are good to go at any mileage if cared for. Local taxi drivers swear by them where I live. Even more popular locally than Skoda's Octavia, and that was the benchmark taxi!
