1990 Ford Mustang LX 2.3L 4 cyclinder from North America

Summary:

Decent

Faults:

Tail pipe had fallen off before I bought it. Small amount of rust on body. Clear coat came off hood. Engine caught on fire with previous owner, but it was repaired under warranty. Ruined starter due to hard cold starts. Rear differential has slight oil leak. Tail pipe hanger fell out due to frame rot. Although this is the only frame rot present. Emergency brake found broken with last owner. When doing brakes upon buying car found part having to do with emergency brake on one side broken.

General Comments:

Decent car. Very comfortable, and decent on gas. Not very good performance. No acceleration or top speed. (tops out about 140kmh). Suspensions pretty bad.

1990 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 HO from North America

Summary:

A high performance car at a very low cost all around

Faults:

Nothing at all, this car is absolutely flawless.

General Comments:

This car is seriously quick and handles like it's on rails.

This car is deadly to drive in the rain and should not be driven by inexperienced drivers.

This car is driven extremely hard at all times and performs flawlessly every time.

1990 Ford Mustang LX 2.3 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

A very fun car to drive

Faults:

Nothing major has went wrong since I have owned it.

The starter went out about 3 weeks after I bought. I have replaced the rear shocks, tires, and brakes, but other than that there hasn't been any problems.

General Comments:

The car isn't as powerful as it's upgrade model 5.0, but it will suprise you once you rev the little motor up.

It handles just as good as a 5.0. It is a very fun reliable, and cheap car to drive. It is also fun to be sitting at a red light beside an import and it start popping it's pipes thinking you have a 5.0.

1990 Ford Mustang GT convertible from North America

Summary:

Not worth the trouble

Faults:

Convertible top motor broke down after about 1.5 years. Ford fixed it since it was still under warranty.

Paint along front bumper began to come off almost immediately, exposing a very ugly yellow color beneath the paint. I had this repainted after about 2 years by the dealership, who charged me $100. It is now deteriorating again in the same way, though not as fast as in the early days.

Air conditioning failed after about two years. Never got it fixed because of the expense.

An electrical short near the fuel pump could have killed me. Mechanic removed this wire harness thing that had turned into a molten blob of plastic and wires, it was right next to the tank.

A power windows has recently failed.

A turn signal has stopped working, and I have to do it manually.

Rear-view mirror has fallen off the windshield twice - it was just glued on in the first place.

Transmission is about to fail.

General Comments:

I like this car a lot - when there's not something wrong with it. I think the quality of the workmanship is pretty low, and I will not be buying another Ford (or any other American car, for that matter).

1990 Ford Mustang 5.0 LX 5.0 HO 302 from North America

Summary:

Camaro killer

Faults:

Around 190000 miles the rear main seal went out. Tranny was a little touchy. Other minor repairs. But what do you want at 200000 miles??

General Comments:

I loved this car to death. There are so many relatively inexpensive aftermarket mods you can do its crazy. Factory exhaust was wayyy to restrictive. Offroad H-pipe and Flowmasters took care of that. Watch out in the rain though, it's really easy to lose the back end if you don't know what you're doing. NEVER lost to a Camaro in my 'Stang.

My 1990 5L mustang LX did 14.2 in the quarter mile with a stock engine. The only thing that was changed on the hole car was the 2.73 gears to 3.73 gears. There are now a few more modifications done to the engine, but I have yet to find out what it will do at the track.
