1995 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 GT from North America

Summary:

Good power and speed for the money

Faults:

Nothing serious complain about. The radiator leaks, but is still holding.

Antyfreeze leaked from the heater core which was replaced for $50 or so.

Gas pump keeps making sharp noise, but is still holding.

Fast car with bad handling even though mine is lowered. It's really a quarter mile runner.

General Comments:

The car looks and feels like a monster.

5.0 is cheap to mod.

Built strong, compared to Chevys, nothing rattles.

Still not a spot of rust.

1995 Ford Mustang LX Convertable 3.8 from North America

Summary:

Heinous piece of junk, migraine causing problems, don't waste your money!

Faults:

The windows in the back got stuck and would not open, sometimes they would not close or the would slip open a crack at will.

The top started cracking at the hinges at 1000 miles.

Back glass slipped, I had to duct tape it.

CD player broke, played same song over and over and would not turn off. I fixed that little problem with a pen that I rammed in the opening out of frustration.

Passenger seat had springs that just fell out underneath.

Head gasket went at 13,000 miles. I had to beg Ford to pay for it because this happened in 1999, out of warranty. They told me that I don't drive the car enough that's why it happened...uh-huh.

Fan motor went, they wanted to charge me for the new switch because they made the fan out of plastic and it shorted because I sit in rush hour traffic... now I was driving too much, or sitting too much with the car running.

Blew the first cylinder... the engine guy told me transmission problem. Transmission guy said engine...17 days later still no results, moved the car up the street too try and get it inspected because it was 1 day over due, cop pulled me over... enough said.

Driver door control panel fell into door... pulled out with pliers and rigged.

The door carpet decoration came unglued on the one side, tripped me several times getting out of my car...nice...

Driver door window leaking all the time, glass goes up to far now??? Sits on the outside of rubber gasket.

Umpteen rotted and blown hoses and leaking this and that's.

Car smells like mold.

AC does not work except when at a traffic light.

Check engine light on all the time.

Temp gage says hot when cold... cold when hot... learned that the hard way.

Oil gage does not work, dealer broke that and said they could fix it, if I paid him the labor cost!!!???nope, sorry guy.

Smelled like gas all the time from 3000 miles. Ford kept saying it was the gas I used. hmmmm???

The alarm started to go off sometimes by itself in my driveway a few minutes after parking scarring me to death. I sat and waited for the "boogie man" one night and it just went off. But if I pressed the panic button on my keys...scilence...:)

I am not kidding you... smelled like pancake syrup and then more Grey blue blown head gasket smoke came billowing out the tail pipe.

Air vents started to smell like fish.

Windshield wipers quit in a heavy rain storm.

This car has no weight, I had no traction even in a drizzle. Even with great tires.

I would find little plastic pieces of my car inside the car that even the dealer didn't know where they came from.

On it's best day this car drove like a 1979 Toyota towing a trailer of livestock.

The insurance on this car killed me, they lump all Mustangs as the GT for the rate where I live.

Do not waste your time on this model...beware.

General Comments:

This car was pretty to look at, I always wanted a convertable Mustang GT, but got stuck with this LEMON. I regret the day I laid eyes on it.

It was supposed to be my dream car I Have a similar experience I will never ever buy a mustang again!

Well, the car is a joke, that much is for sure. Typical Ford. The quality control guy was probably sitting there eating pancakes and that's why the car smells like syrup. They've done far worse than that before.

LOL.

I'm going to agree with the original poster, this car is a POS. But the LX model wasn't offered from 1994-1998 or I've never heard of the V6 being called an LX.

I do agree though that it doesn't sound like you took good care of the car. Shoving a pen into the CD player?

As far as duct tape is concerned, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that that was only a temporary solution until you fixed the problem. I duct taped both my side view mirrors until the replacements arrived from Canada and I installed them.

What does insurance have to do with things that have gone wrong with the car. Insurance rates vary with different insurance companies.

Dude it, is a V6, that's why you think it performs badly. If you're going to get a Mustang, you have to go with the 5.0 liter high output motor.

I got a 1995 Mustang Convertible GT like 4 months ago, and it hasn't given me a problem yet, it has 110,000 miles and runs new, so you really can't knock Mustangs because you bought a lemon... a weak lemon at that.

Mustangs are great if it's a V8, and as for the second comment about Mustangs not having a rear window that goes down, convertibles do.

In 94 and 95 the V6 models of these cars are known for blowing head gaskets.

Outside of that, I had no problems with the one I owned. Fix the head gasket issue and it will run for a long time.
