1995 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 HO from North America

Summary:

Most reliable car I have ever had!

Faults:

Transmission started to slip after 120000 miles.

Wiring problem with headlight switch.

General Comments:

The 1995 Mustangs, last year for the outstanding 5.0, is the best year for mustang. Safety ratings, reliable, comfort, maintenance costs are all above average. I can't say enough about this car. I have 198000 and plan to drive it until the wheels fall off.

1995 Ford Mustang LX 3.8L V6 from North America

Summary:

A lot of reliable fun for the money!

Faults:

Nothing at all, just the usual tires and batteries.

General Comments:

The design is awesome, and it is a reasonably comfy ride too with a semi-soft suspension and wide, cushy seats.

I love the long gears, the engine pulls strong from 1300 RPM all the way to red-line.

Now I just hope it will last as long as my 188,000 mile Supra...

Good luck, just remember not 2 overly abuse the engine, especially if ur miles are getting a little high, but other than routine maintinence, you should be OK.

1995 Ford Mustang LX 3.8 L from North America

Summary:

Half-decent car, bad dealership treatment

Faults:

Air conditioning leakage problems resulting in visiting the dealer every year for three first years until I switched to a Lincoln dealer and they found the problem.

Leak in the trunk which resulted in the spare tire rusting.

Replaced a timing cover ($800 bill) at 60,000 km.

Replaced the thermostat twice - it still doesn't work, but now they blame the temperature gauge which will cost big bucks to replace.

My head gasket blew at 75,000 km. Got the car back from this repair and the temperature was still all over the place. Replaced the thermostat (had replaced the thermostat 53 weeks before and they wouldn't cover it under the 1 year warranty) again!! Still didn't work and they would take no responsibility for the cost saying it had nothing to do with the head gasket even though it worked fine before they worked on the car.

General Comments:

I probably wouldn't feel so upset if Ford and the dealership had treated me with more respect. I had good luck with the Lincoln dealership till they merged with the Ford dealership which I had problems with. This dealership ruined potential further maintenance and probably a future sale for a $138 thermostat. I guess they don't realize that word of mouth spreads pretty quickly - I don't have a problem telling people about the awful service I received.

At least I am not the only one with head gasket problems.

My 1995 Mustang is a lemon in every sense of the word:

-New crankshaft (warranty)

-Short Block (warranty)

-Rebuilt engine @ 112K (arbitration - Ford paid 3/4)

-New Transmission

-Blown head gasket @ 160K.

I will never buy a Ford again.

1995 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 HO V-8 from North America

Summary:

One hell of a car!!!

Faults:

So far I did not have that many problems with the car. The major thing is when the car is under load the engine gives out a nasty ping. I am working on fixing that.

General Comments:

The car has a very powerful V-8 engine. But it drinks a lot of 94 octane fuel.

The manual transmission could be a little shorter, but I'm satisfied.

The good thing about owning a 5.0 liter is they are easy to get parts to modify.

This car is really fun to drive, and great for picking up women. The Flowmaster exhaust is a must for Mustang drivers. It turns a lot of heads.

Hello Steven. My name is Denny I also have a 95 mustang GT. You said the motor had a nasty ping when under a heavy load. what modifications have you done to your car I may be of some help. My car was doing the same thing I tried installing a K&N aircharger kit without upgrading the mass-air, that resulted a nasty ping when engine was under load. I fixed the problem by getting a 75mm mass air, and a 75mm throttle body, and 24lb fuel injectors, along with a MSD ignition system for more spark. Good luck on you MUSTANG GT.
