2000 Ford Mustang from North America

Summary:

Ol' reliable Stang

Faults:

Not a thing.

General Comments:

I bought this car new and have not experienced a single problem in 3 years.

Other than regular oil changes, no other repairs have been required.

It is surprisingly good on gas.

I drive it in the winter with winter tires and some weight in the rear and it handles snow and ice adequately.

With no additional rust protection the exterior looks new when washed.

I just wanted to express my great experience with this vehicle after reading all the negative comments.

I agree with the positive comments about the Mustang.

I bought a 2000 Mustang (V6) used, with 29000 mis, in 2003, and the only problem I had with it was a squeak in the dashboard that was present only periodically when driving on the highway.

The car didn't hesitate when starting in temperatures below 0, got pretty good gas mileage on the highway (25+mpg), and was the most fun, comfortable car I've ever driven.

Unfortunately, the rear wheel drive poses a problem on ice (I did have 50lbs of sand in the rear of the vehicle, and it still slipped like crazy) ; I made the mistake of driving 60-65 over a patch of ice on the highway, and totaled the vehicle : (

With snow tires, the vehicle handled OK in the snow; I did have to be more cautious in the rain, but the car takes turns excellently when it's dry and the brakes were as good at decelerating as the car was at accelerating.

If I had the money, I'd definitely buy this same car, or upgrade to the 2005 model. Driving this car was like a dream.

2000 Ford Mustang GT 4.6 V8 from North America

Summary:

I'm sure it's a good car, just not mine

Faults:

You name it, it has happened. During month two of my ownership, an incredible knocking noise was clearly apparent from the engine area. The noise grew louder and louder as you accelerated. I took it to the dealer, and for a healthy sum of money, they informed me that the spark plugs were arcing during acceleration. Sounded more like a midget trapped under the hood armed with a hammer to me.

Alternator went bad at 19,000 miles.

Grinding noise between 2nd and 3rd gear.

Strange rotting stench emits from exhaust pipes on occasion.

General Comments:

The best piece of crap money can buy! I should have taken the advice of my friends and bought a Chevy Camaro.

When the car is in working order, and that's about as rare as stepping in a steaming hot pile of elephant dump on Main Street, it runs well. Fast? Yes. Needs improvements on reliability? Sure does.

I cannot agree more. I have a 2000 GT/5 speed. At 7000 miles, the motor was replaced due to rod knock. At 25000 miles, I couldn't get the car out of first gear, the transmission was replaced. My clutch makes this mystery high pitch noise that sounds like a belt slipping now. I turn this thing back into the dealer when my lease is up in 3 months, I can't wait. I will walk straight over to the Subaru dealer for a WRX. This is probably the last Ford that I will own for quite some time.

2000 Ford Mustang 3.8 L V6 from North America

Summary:

Perfect!

Faults:

Nothing at all has gone wrong, in fact everything has gone terribly, terribly right. It's the greatest car I've ever seen. The only reason I said I would not get another car from Ford is because no other cars in their line interests me, but if it was a Mustang, I wouldn't hesitate.

IF you think the Cobra is the best car in the world you haven't driven very much... which seems to be the case with most Mustang fans. They are slow, unreliable pieces of plastic. Go drive a F-body Camaro or Trans Am and tell me that the Cobra is still the best car in the world...
