Okay... you guys need to do your research! The Probe GT was made to take the mustang of the market. The First gen GT was made by Mazda, it says it right on the sticker on the door. Manf. by Mazda Inc for Ford motor company. The Probe could have very well taken the mustang of the market. I've beaten newer GTs and kept up with a newer SVT(Barely) with my 89 GT. If ford hadn't put a V6 peice of junk in the second Gen, the probe would be the company's main sports car today. People say the Cougar is the 3rd gen Probe, but nothing lives up to the Probe.

No, Ford did not make a V6 turbo for the Probe... If it did, they wouldn't have ended it and it would have cost upwards of $30,000. A supra turbo is a V6 turbo charged, and that's pushing out 400+ hp. They made a V6 LX model of the probe, which still stands no chance against the GT Turbo. The fastest Probe V6 that I have seen that isn't made as a race car hits 15.9eta on the 1/4 mile with about 3000 put into the cars perfromance. My 89 GT, with about 1000 in the entire car gets 15 flat. That's mostly stock with the exception of a few things. V6 Turbo Probe. I WISH!

I own a 1990 ford probe gt and am running just above the 12.0 mark for the quarter mile. To say that a four cylinder probe could never compete with a mustang is a heap. I'm still running with a stock turbo.

I just purchased a one owner 1990 Ford Probe GT Turbo from my cousin from Tampa, Florida. It has 120k on the odometer. It is fully loaded with everything including sunroof. I took it to the track and ran 12.82 in the quarter at 97 miles per hour. Not bad for an older daily driver? I really enjoy the car a lot.

I drive a 1989 probe gt turbo, with 13 psi and fuel management mods I can take a stage 2 roush mustang by three car lengths, a supra does not have 400= hp they have 320 hp.

And 12.82 ummmm is your probe stock? mine will run a low 14 sec pass at sea level and I have my boost up to 13 psi, I would be lucky to get into the 13.9 range if I drove it hard.

Anyway, I love this car and would never get rid of it.

Listen, i think you guys know nothing about cars. "a stock won't do that." you guys are stupid.Listen, ever car is individual. It may have the same stock parts from the same maker, but each car is individual. My probe gt's turbo went out 3 months ago and its only got 120 thosand miles. My friends 1990 gt's turbo is still running strong at 175,000. If this seems weird to you then you shouldn't be on a website about cars anyway.

I just purchased a 1990 Ford Probe GT turbo with only 119k. I would like to improve it's performance, but I am not sure exactly sure where to start or where to find the parts. My Probe is stock with stock PSI. I would appreciate if I can get some advice on how to make my car faster. Last time I took it to the track I did 16 flat, due to some poor traction (which I can figure out). Please I would really appreciate some help.

My e-mail is fixntune@yahoo.com

Thanks

Hi, I'm from St.John's, Newfoundland, Canada. I do own a 89 Ford Probe GT, turbo, standard, 4cl 2.2.L The first day I bought the car... I love it period. My car's kms is 335k. I know! Unbelievable its has high mileage, but it was highway km. The car has been up to Alberta twice.. and back, so that explains the kms. All I gotta say is that the car is one of the best cars I ever drove. I wish that the car company had kept making the same Probe again.. I wonder.

I have a 1990 3.0 l ford probe. it is stock I have he time slip at the the strip it was 15.5 with me smokin the tires off the launch. and I have raced the 4 cylinder probe turbos and they all get beat.. and the turbo probe and the v6 probe have the same hp, but the v6 has more tq.. the mustangs are over rated. they are not fast. the have a small v8 it them nd people think they have a super car. put a 5.0 in a probe and I bet you it will stomp and thing out.

I am a original owner of a 1990 Ford Probe GT 2.2L 4 cyl Turbo. I have over 177,000 miles and it's still running strong. I had the car since high school, and use it as a daily drive today.

I'll admit, it needs oil topped off every once in a while before an oil change, but it pulls hard. PerformanceProbe.com is a great forum for Probe owners (username jjcrews01). It is hard to find performance parts for this car, but a lot of searching will find you some.

Talked to a lot of owners and previous owners of their Probes, and they had nothing but good things to say about them. Not the perfect car, but at least mine is still running.

I have a 1990 2.2 Ford Probe non-turbo. It has 59,000 original miles on it. I can push it on the quarter mile in 14.7 seconds. The only mods are 15" rims and a custom intake system. No other mods. I was wondering if there any other mods I can do to it, to get it to go a little faster?

You people don't know anything about cars. If you did and really wanted to go fast, then you would own a Mustang and not a Probe. All you people that drive front wheel drive 4 cylinders are just scared to be behind the wheel of a real car with power and torque. I have got an 89 5.0 that runs 11.30's all day that's a true street car that I drive to work about 4 out of 5 days a week. No turbo, no supercharger, no NOS. All motor!

Time to grow up fellas unless you want to run 15s for the rest of your life.
