I have owned my 1989 Ford Probe GL, standard, 2.2L non-turbo from new. It has never failed me in the 189,000 Km. I know I'm ready for a new car but this one's free! It doesn't use any oil and still has a 500 Km+ range on a tank of gas.
Things are starting to wear out -the power antenna; wipers do not return to home position automatically; leak into spare well under hatch. But for a 12 year old car I think these are pretty inconsequential. I have had 2 tune-ups in the 12 years of ownership and total repairs not including tires or oil changes is under $1000.00 Cdn!
I would definitely buy another Ford, especially if it is one of the Ford/Mazda cars like the Probe was.

I bet the original poster on this would give anything to get his Probe back after buying a Windstar!

My friend was about to junk this 1991 Probe with a 2.2 engine and 176 k miles on it because it was overheating and she got a new car. They offered her 60 bucks at the junk yard. So, instead of that she offered me to buy the car and fix it. Everything on it was stock, and the only thing I had to replace was a water pump that I bought at Auto zone for 26 dollars. After 7 hours of work. I had a perfectly good running ballsy 1991 Ford Probe G L, bought for sixty bucks. Since the day I started driving it I put 8 thousand miles on it. And I drive it daily. I will have to agree on a stereo system. It is completely worthless.

I now own a 91 Ford Probe 2.2. I enjoy the car very much. I wish I had the 2.2 with turbo because my car can fly.

First of all the Probe I own runs perfectly fine. They hold up as long as the owner takes care of it. My 91 is in mint condition. The comment about the sound system was completely false. It is the only part of the car that sucks.
