Nothing major.

General Comments:

Extremely reliable and durable. This truck has 234,000 miles on the original 3.0L motor. The valve covers have never been off this motor (i.e. it is untouched). It still gets 23mpg on the highway, and the original paint is still shiny.

1991 Ford Ranger 2.3 from North America

Summary:

Best Compact Truck Ever

Faults:

I bought the truck with 140,000 miles on it with minor problems. It needed a new exhaust and a simple tune up.

General Comments:

Sense I have done all that work I put 30,000 more miles on it and only replaced wiper blades and brakes.

The under body is getting a little rusty may need body mounts, other than I believe the truck will last another 30,000 miles on the same engine.

This is my every day driver; I have used it for hauling lawn trackers to carrying eight 22.5 trailer tires in the back of it.

I strongly believe this is the best ever manufacture compact truck.

1991 Ford Ranger XLT 2.3 from North America

Summary:

2.3 Liter Engine Belongs in an Escort, not a truck

Faults:

Original Engine shot @ 60,000 miles.

Air Conditioner Condenser @ 80,000.

Two sets brakes, all around including drums and disks.

Power Steering Pump @ 100,000.

U-Joints.

General Comments:

Well I don't know if I like or dislike the Ranger.

The engine went out at 60,000 miles. Parts of the oil pan gasket wore away and got in the oil pickup. The engine was ruined after that.

After installing a remanufactured engine, the truck is still running.

After the engine was replaced, other things went out like air conditioner. At that time we had too much money in the vehicle so just kept on doing repairs.

Over the course of 14 years, we have probably put $5000 worth or repairs in the Ranger. This is on a commuter truck, never used for business use.

The 2.3 Liter engine belongs in an Escort, not a truck. No power.

1991 Ford Ranger Standard four cylinder from North America

Summary:

Best pick up ever made

Faults:

Never had any issues with the truck until the last few years of owning it.

Oil pump went out, never was an issue again after replacement.

Timing belt broke a few years after oil pump, replaced it and it ran like a dream.

General Comments:

I don't think there ever was or ever will be a better pick up truck than the Ranger.

Incredibly durable, tough and reliable, starts right up in cold weather and runs like new even when it gets older.

Interior held up forever.

Fun truck to drive and great for anyone.

An underrated legend

Faults:

Leaks freon.

General Comments:

This is a wonderful go anywhere do anything truck and I would buy another in about 2 shakes. The interior has held up extremely well as well as the paint that has not chipped or rusted in 13 years. Over I love everything about my ranger all of my friends like to ride in it because it has great character about it.

1991 Ford Ranger XLT 2.3L Inline 4 from North America

Summary:

Big things come in small packages..

Faults:

Replaced the whole ignition system (Solenoid, Starter, Battery) at 132,000. Only had to replace the starter, but replaced everything anyways. Alternator once at 145,000. Belts once at 190,000 (Including timing belt)

General Comments:

This truck has been through everything. It is a little 2 wheel drive model with a 6 foot bed, but I have taken it through all kinds of mud, and hauled many loads of lumber.

We got this truck in 1999 with only 8,458 miles on it, the previous owner never drove it. Now it has over 192,000 on it. The engine has been ran almost completely out of oil three times which caused the lifters to make some noise, but nothing major. Engine burns little oil and has a lot of power for having 192,000 on it. Oil was not changed for 3 years and the spark plugs have only been changed twice its entire life. I just changed them for the 2nd time at 190,000. Plug wires have been changed twice.

This truck handles nice although it needs shocks and a front end alignment. I have all my faith in this truck, for I have seen all the abuse she has taken, and I'm convinced it will last forever just because it says Ford on it.
