2002 Ford Ranger Edge 3.0L V6 from North America
Summary:
A very good, reliable vehicle for a teenager who likes pickup trucks.
Faults:
At 27,000 miles, a mechanic changed the oil and caused an oil leak. Caused by a defective oil filter.
General Comments:
My truck is very reliable, gets good gas mileage, but I wish it had more room in the cab.
Rides very well on the highway.
Quite a new vehicle model to have a standard odometer.
Overall, very good.

I really thought I would like the Ranger Edge because of its sporty design and off road package. So far, I'm really not happy with it. I have had some problems. The truck has 40,000 miles on it and here are my complaints. The tires have scalloped and make terrible noise at about 40,000 miles. The oil pressure guage needle freaks out when the truck comes down to idle at a traffic light. I have already had to replace the alternator. The fog lights have both burned out. The light for the guages has burned out. The oil filter is very hard to reach. The CD player often jams. The windshield has cracks and dings because it does not deflect debris very well. It is too straight up and down. (look around and you will notice cracked windshield on most rangers that are a few years old) Ford's bug shield has not helped. The doors freeze shut. The painted front bumper quickly rusts from dings. Otherwise, it would be a pretty good truck because it is sporty looking, it's good in the snow and gets about 20 miles to the gallon.
