1998 Ford Scorpio Ultima 2.3 from UK and Ireland
Summary:
Good value, reliable, executive car for family car money
Faults:
I have not yet had any faults with this vehicle, apart from the usual wear and tear i.e. tyres.
General Comments:
I'm very pleased with this car.
The looks of the car are what put most people off, but once you have had one for a few months, you grow to kinda like it.
If you after a cheap car that's big, comfy and reliable, then the Scorpio is for you.
The 2.3, which I have, is the best all rounder. Performance is good for car of its size, and the MPG, if you take it steady and cruise along at 70mph, it will return 30 MPG. It's at home on a motorway, and you will feel at home too.
The seats are really comfy, full leather, heated and adjusted electrically. The steering column moves, both reach and rake, so anyone can find a good driving position.
If you are planning on buying one of these cars, go for the 2.3 DOHC 16v and Ultima spec; you get all the above, plus automatic climate control, A/C, heated seats, full leather, electric tilt slide sunroof, cruise control, CD changer, and much more.
There is all so a big following on the net. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ is about the best site I've ever seen for a car, and tells you everything you would ever want to know about the car.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Just bought a 2.3 Scorpio Ultima.. What a car!!
Paid £1450 for a 1998 model. Electric everything, black leather interior, previous owner cooked the engine (hose split). 93,000 genuine miles on the clock (new engine only done 8,500 miles).
Armchair luxury cruiser, eats motorways.. very speedy for its class, in near showroom condition, & a real pleasure to drive.. over the moon!
Would recommend the 2.3 to anyone.
Two small gripes:
1. Ford missed out on the headlight design.. pity, otherwise a very smart/sleek overall package.
2. (And this is not a failing of Fords) The previous owner kept the cherished plate (--- car).
Regards to all you lucky Scorpio owners, Alan.
