1991 Ford Taurus Station Wagon 3.0 from North America

Summary:

Beast-Hoss Battle Wagon

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong.

Only needed routine maintenance.

General Comments:

This car is a beast-hoss. It has 220,000 miles on it and never needed any repairs. We left it sitting in the yard for over 5 years. The car rusted and the interior cracked up. I got in it a month ago, and filled the radiator and put a new battery in, and it started up. Everything still works: windows, locks, heater, and radio. The tires weren't even flat.

If you are looking for a reliable American car, buy a Ford. They may not be any fun to drive, but they last forever.

1991 Ford Taurus 3.0V from North America

Summary:

I love it

Faults:

Bought it with CV joint ready to be replaced.

Wiper switch died (under heaviest rain) 240000 km.

Back struts gone after 240000 km.

Front struts gone after 245000 km.

Paint seriously falling after 250000 km.

Water pump replaced at 258000 km.

Fuel pump gone 260000 km.

Motor mount, high pressure steering hose, and radiator replaced at 265000 km.

Regular front brake changes every 30000 km.

Back brakes lasted for 4 year before change.

Running good for two and a half years after that.

Well some bushings need to be changed, but mechanics cannot agree on the part name – still running like a clock.

General Comments:

Driving it is a real pleasure. A lot of leg room, arm rest for a driver and a passenger. Comfy seats.

Had two accidents in it (was rear ended both times, some bumper damage, but not injured).

It is not really great on the fuel economy, but it is 3.0V engine.

Paid $1,650 for it and put some $2,500 in repairs over 4.5 years – all in all costs less than a hundred a month.

1991 Ford Taurus 3.8L from North America

Summary:

Total disaster on four wheels

Faults:

Since I purchased this car in 2003, all I have had are problems.

First, the car seem to cut out without any reason.

The lights went, then the wheels were replaced as the alignment was out...

Then the last straw... the transmission seem to have gone and now the gear link.

Please all the ladies out there, and men, FORD is the worst choice you can make when purchasing a car. Worst choice of my life to be honest.

It was a true money sucker...

General Comments:

I have nothing positive to comment.

Did you ever figure out why the car kept cutting out without reason.

1991 Ford Taurus GL 3.0 liter from North America

Summary:

I'm very disappointed

Faults:

First, I couldn't keep the steering wheel aligned. I had it aligned when I first bought it, got 4 new tires. Then 4 or 5 months later, it was misaligned again, with new parts needed underneath--new drive shaft, CV boot--$500 of work. Then 4 or 5 months later--same thing. This time, 2 new tires and a new end rod--$400 of work.

Now, ten days after I dumped the last $400, the transmission is down. Needs total overhaul--$1100 of work.

General Comments:

I bought the car at 30000 miles. I realize that the car was 14 years old, but I thought the low miles would make it a better deal. I was wrong. I paid $2000 for it, and it has needed another $2000 of repairs in less than a year! I wouldn't drive another one of their cars if they gave it to me for free.

1991 Ford Taurus Stationwagon from North America

Summary:

Good, reliable, but ugly

Faults:

Rust on outside doors and back hatch.

Windshield cracked.

Back hatch lock sticks sometimes.

Wipers don't work unless the highbeams are on.

Paint on roof is sunfaded and peeling.

General Comments:

Since I've had this car, almost 2 years now, nothing has gone wrong with it. It's ugly as all get out on the outside due to the rust and peeling paint, but the engine is really good. You can fit so much stuff in the back hatch and the back seat goes down so you can cram even more into it! The cars exterior is sure a theft deterrent though!
