1992 Ford Taurus L 3.0L V6 from North America
Summary:
Superior Safety, Excellent Reliability
Faults:
The Transmission had to be replaced once in 1996, other than that, no other Engine/transmission problems.
The air conditioning needs re-servicing.
Rear Defogger/Wiper (I own a wagon) not working, due to my son's friend yanking out the wire.
Wipers "lock up" when used.
Door on right side can't open from outside.
General Comments:
Aside from some of the problems this car has had, it has proved to be a very reliable and safe car. It has good off the line power, and has relatively quick downshifts. The brakes work excellently and has strong pedal feel. Its steering is light and responsive, and it's visibility is excellent all around. It also has lots of cargo room, and good leg room in front, marginal in rear with front seats pushed fully back. The controls are legible, and fairly easy to operate while driving. The seats are in like new condition, and the interior is pretty nice. Outside, the paint is good in some areas, but needs a new coat on the lift-gate and the hood. The car needs a little work done on it, inside and out, but otherwise, it gets me from Point A to Point B safely and reliably. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone who has teenage drivers like myself, as it is one of the safest cars built.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I agree with everything you said. It's not a great car, but it is very safe and reliable. It's also decent on gas considering it's not a tiny car. I'm a big guy and originally wanted a truck for my first car, but the 92 Taurus was a better option for me and now I think it was worth it.
