1999 Ford Taurus SE 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

Awesome car

Faults:

The only thing that has gone wrong with my 99 Taurus is my lights inside the car stay on sometimes, and the dash says the door is open.

Other than that, I have had no problems at all with my Taurus.

General Comments:

I love the look and feel of the seats, and the handling of this car.

Never had any problems with the car, doesn't run hot, cold A/C, very hot heat, smooth ride and looks good. I would buy another one when this one's time is up.

1999 Ford Taurus SE from North America

Summary:

Needs some work, but a good car

Faults:

First the heat doesn't work, which I can see a lot of you have had the same problem and if you are looking to fix it, it is the water pump. When they made this car, they used an antifreeze that was corrosive and ate through the teeth that help regulate heat. I fixed that, and the heat works WONDERFULLY! Just a heads up.

However now I think I might have a blown head gasket. I am bringing the car in to a shop tonight.

General Comments:

Other than that, I LOVE the car.

Summary:

The best car value on the market

Faults:

Water pump, starter.

General Comments:

Our family currently owns 6 Tauruses. The oldest is a 1993 with 143,000 miles, then a 1994 with 240,000 miles, a 1995 with 213,000, two 1999's with over 100,000, and a 2003 with 140,000. They have all been and still are good, reliable cars. We haven't done anything outside of regular maintenance to the 1993, 1995, either 1999, or the 2003. The 1994 has had the starter replaced twice, the alternator once, the water pump twice, and we finally had to replace the transmission at 210,000 miles. They are the most reliable cars I have ever been around.

I have read some of the negative reviews on this website, and can't help but wonder how these people treat and service their cars. We have been driving Tauruses for 20 years, and have never had issues with them. That's 20 years, 7 cars and close to a million miles between them. I wouldn't want any other car.

1999 Ford Taurus SE 3.0L V6 from North America

Summary:

It is a great car, may have some quirks, but overall a good car

Faults:

Transmission problems, ie: not a city car.

General Comments:

I am a college student. My parents bought me a 1999 Ford Taurus for a commuter in 2009. I have driven it for a year, and it has had 4 things done. It needed brakes, the water overflow tank, water pump, heater core, and will eventually need tires, come Dec.

This car, regardless of the problems, it has been a great car. I would definitely buy another Ford. It has not failed on me mechanically, maybe a few leaks, but most of that stuff is maintenance.

However those problems are reported to happen in that order due to pressure build up. It is a fantastic car, and I believe I made the correct choice.

1999 Ford Taurus SE 3.0 Vulcan from North America

Faults:

We replaced the oil pan gasket (my opinion is the cork gasket is better).

Experiencing heat problems in the car after driving about 20 minutes, and turn the fan on, you get a blast heat for about 5 minutes. Then turn off because cold air returns.

I love the car; its performance on the road around curves. I can pass any car on the road.

We do our routine maintenance, but I'm not sure why Ford made it so complicated to change the oil pan gasket. This makes it high maintenance.

I only drive Fords. My father was Ford man. When my husband now came for my first date, he parked he Volkswagen in the drive, and my father, having fun, asked him to park across the street. Ford only in my driveway. After about six months, he went and bought a Ford Pinto. We plan on a Mustang next.
