2007 Ford Taurus SE 3.0L from North America

Summary:

Good car, be mindful of the transmission

Faults:

Rear tail light (a pain because on this year/ model it's an LED module. Hard to find).

Torque converter.

Alternator and battery.

General Comments:

This was our family vehicle and now commuter. Gas isn't special. Basically what you would expect from a V-6.

I have had to replace/fix a few things. Alternator and battery had to be replaced (but 6 years of use from factory parts). LED tail light went out. I couldn't find one in stock in auto parts stores, so I ended up at a junk yard. Easy to replace, just hard to find.

I have performed a tune-up. Straight forward, nothing really complicated after you move/remove the air intake. Now my torque converter is going up. After reviewing some forums, apparently it's common. So I plan to get rid of this car. Kind of outgrown it now.

2007 Ford Taurus SEL 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

Taurus' are safe, dependable, spacious, and now luxurious cars!

Faults:

Nothing so far.

General Comments:

This car is very roomy and comfortable.

My Taurus is a spacious, reliable car. It runs like a dream, and though I haven't had it for very long, I know I will! I know three people that have had Taurus' and loved them! One of my friends drove hers for 250,000 miles and then bought another one!

The car is a smooth ride... the shocks are so much better in this car than in my old Dodge Neon. I look forward to driving now!

The luxury edition comes with leather seats, automatic windows and locks, wood paneling, CD player, lighted mirrors both inside and outside of the car, and a keypad entry. The only option it doesn't have is heated seats and a remote starter.

Overall, I love this car and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice, roomy, dependable car!

2007 Ford Taurus SEL 3.0 from North America

Summary:

No better value around!

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

I purchased this car to commute. I was going to buy a used Cavalier, but my friend who is a manager of a Ford dealership called me to tell me he had an awesome car for me. I am so glad he kept me from buying the Cavalier. This car is so much more car, and way more quiet and comfortable!

I get 33 mph on highway travel and 28 around town. It has a moonroof and nice interior.

I once owned an 85 Taurus, and said I would never buy another one as it was a real lemon. Well here it is, 2008, and I bought another one.

This car is a very dependable and nice car for 11,000 dollars! Ford should never have ended making it, I think they will regret it.

I can get 5 people in my car to commute and no problems. Trunk space is cavernous! The MACH stereo system is one of the best I have heard! I just wish I had leather seats.

My uncle has that same car (a 2005), and he averages 27mpg driving a constant 50mph for a 40 mile commute down country roads. Throw that car into real city driving and the numbers drop to 17-18mpg.

Agree with the last comment. The mpg figures in the review sound a little fishy. Any claims to get 4-5 mpg MORE than the EPA figures are suspect.

Summary:

Great car, smooth, quiet, and a pleasure to drive

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

My wife and I purchased our 2007 Taurus a month ago, and are very happy with the purchase. It's a great looking car for a great price.

Ours has almost every option, SEL, moon roof, leather, ABS, trip computer, 6 cd changer, home link, climate control, spoiler, auto lights, and key pad entry.

We looked at a Fusion, a great car, but bought this one with 17,000 miles on it for about 10k less. It drives great, smooth and quiet.

I am sad that Ford discontinued the Taurus as they are a nice size car, not too big, or too small. I am miffed at why so many people dis this car. I guess it's mainly import owners who would not buy an American car.

I would highly recommend the 2007 fleet Taurus to anyone looking for a quality car at a great price.

No doubt, the 2008 Taurus is a great looking car! Nice lines, really nice interior, looks and feels like a full-sized sedan (which I miss after a couple of decades of "econo cars") and yet it has more horsepower and gets better mileage than its predecessors. If I needed a car, I would buy one right now!

Summary:

As it says on the tin - Taurus = Bull

General Comments:

Have been using this as a rental. For undemanding use on freeways and boulevards upto 60 mph. Car does the job. Beyond that, it is incompetent.

Took the car on I80 towards Reno and it was not easy. Car struggled uphill (only me in the car) and required all your attention in the twists and turns. Ride is appalling on bad roads.

Lots of space though. No ABS is an issue. Interior is cheap.

No ABS is an issue if you don't know how to drive safely, which would dovetail with the rest of your comments about high-speed handling on corners in the Sierras. You can't expect most sedans to act like race cars climbing the Sierra foothills! If you think you're going to go cruising up I-80 to Reno from Sacramento in 5th gear doing 90 at 2,000 rpms, you ought to be looking at a whole different price range and car style!
