2008 Ford Taurus SEL 3.5 from North America

Summary:

Excellent overall package

Faults:

Not a thing.

General Comments:

Very safe - heavy, but drives light, gets an overall 22.8 mpg.

Open road trips give 28-29 real mpg.

The back seat has tons of room.

The car is tall and offers excellent views of the road, except the trunk is so tall that it is hard to see behind the car from inside, much like a truck with the tail gate up.

This trunk is a monster.

Crash test rating are superior to most all cars.

The car still looks, smells, and drives like new, even at almost 32,000 real world miles.

The car drives on wet roads very well, even with the cheap factory tires.

The car isn't as brisk at my old 2000 Accord's 4 cyl, but this "modern" Taurus feels much more smooth and quiet. No harshness in any way. No road or wind sounds.

The car will stop on a dime, and this one is only fwd, but drives on snow and mixed ice like a 4x4.

I have stopped going to the Ford dealership for oil changes, due to long waiting time and what seems to be a lack of staff, and the fact that they try to get me to buy a new car. To me this car is still too new to trade in.

Transmission shifts are super smooth.

Heat and A/C are excellent.

This is a good looking car that drives super smooth and strong.

I love the radio controls on the steering wheel.

Never owning a Ford or "American" car, I wonder about the long term quality of this car, but so far it has been flawless.

2008 Ford Taurus SEL AWD 3.5L from North America

Summary:

Best large car value, hands down

Faults:

Nothing wrong with this car yet.

General Comments:

This car is a much improved version of the Five Hundred. Quieter, smoother, more powerful; everything the 500 should have been. Leather seats are very comfortable. This car has an amazing trunk!

Is it true that there is more room in the rear seat of a Taurus than a Crown Victoria?

Could Not agree more! I have a 2007 Dodge Charger, and then we recently bought this 08 Taurus for my wife. While the Charger totally blows away the Taurus performance wise, The Taurus is BY FAR more comfortable. We recently took a trip from Wisconsin to Naples, Florida in the Taurus and it performed wonderful. No lie, we got 29 MPG! I though this was impressive. It's smooth, quiet, and comfy. I do not believe you can go wrong with this car. We test drove a Toyota Avalon, Buick Lucurne, and SAAB 9-5 before ultimately deciding on this one. Ford did a great job on it.
