1990 Ford Tempo All Wheel Drive 2.3L HSO from North America

Faults:

I had to replace the valve cover gasket because it was leaking oil.

The front door power locks no longer work.

The seats and carpet in the front is worn and stained although the back seats look almost brand new.

The right back power window goes down, but not back up.

General Comments:

Over all this is a great car can smoke some civics and a few other cars.

People look at the car and say "It's just a Tempo"

I think the car is awesome because it goes faster than most people think.

You should see the look on peoples faces when they see me fly by.

1990 Ford Tempo L 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Fix or repair daily

Faults:

Well the front end has been completely replaced. CV joint, boots lower and upper control arms. Then the electrical started. This car left me stranded on a bridge on my way home to my fathers funeral. The alternator has been replaced 3 times, four batteries, all new plugs and wires, still it continues to lose power and keep me walking. The most unreliable money pit I have ever had. I would stongly suggest to never buy a 1990 tempo!

General Comments:

Fix or repair daily. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket, buy a tempo. If you want to teach yourself how to be a mechanic and replace everything in your vehichle, buy a tempo. Turn the corner at your daughters grad and have the muffler fall off, buy a tempo. If you want to guarantee your child will be delivered in the back seat of your car buy a tempo. Take my advice, spend your money on something that will reliable.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I have a 1990 ford tempo GL and its been running forever. Sure a couple things like a valve cover, tie rod end, and a motor mount, but that's about it. As long as you keep it up and don't abuse it, it'll keep running.

1990 Ford Tempo L 2.3 from North America

Summary:

A great first car

Faults:

Battery Died (remember it is a 13 year old car)

Brakes need to be adjusted

General Comments:

When I first bought this car it ran well. After the car battery died, the car kept stalling in traffic, and the headlights are dieing on me.

For the price of the car I am not complaining. This car will never die on you. You can trust the car no matter what.

Seats are comfortable for the year of the car, and the interior is simple to use. Cheap on gas, even though this car has a 2.3 L 4 cylinder engine in it, it has the power.

1990 Ford Tempo GL from North America

Summary:

Good on gas, but make up for it in repairs

Faults:

When I first got the car, it needed front brakes.

Immediately following that, I got a tune-up which consisted of spark plugs, ignition rotor, distributor cap, ignition wire set, air filter and fuel filter totaling $216.06.

About three months after that I had to replace the front brakes and rotors again (this was 8 months after the first set).

After all of this, things really started to go bad. The battery died, the alternator went. The radio shorted out. The horn stopped working. Lighting in temperature control blew out. Thermostat problem. Needed to repaire the catalytic converter.

As of right now I totaled all of my bills (excluding oil changes and 3 new tires) and my total amount spent on car repairs is: $1169.81.

And now it is time to get rid of this car because it now needs a front axle and a tie rod totaling around $350.00.

General Comments:

This car has less than 100,000 miles on it and it already needs all this work. I could only imagine what this car will in the future.

However, I must say that this car has severed its purpose.
