1993 Ford Thunderbird LX 3.8 V6 from North America

Summary:

Nice looking, fun to drive, bad electrical system

Faults:

The electrical system is faulty. My light switch will no longer work, and it rapidly overheats, and starts smoking when I turn it on. I think there's a recall on it, but I don't know what to do.

General Comments:

It is a nice looking car with smooth curves, but it has problems.

Hi, I had the same problem with my 93 t-bird. Now if depending how long you have own your car there was a safety recall back on 99 and is under recall # 99S30 which the dealer should take care of.

Recently I had the same burned odor and headlights turn off by them selves and eventually not turning on at all. The problem is with your turn signal handle or multi switch as I believed is called, if you replace that it should take care of your problem, you might have to install a new connector if the original got burned.

Summary:

This car is the best used car I have purchased so far off the internet

Faults:

My water pump went out at 66000.The CV shaft on right side is bad. The electrical wiring was yanked so the lights on the door lock would stop staying on and the cab lights as well.

1993 Ford Thunderbird LX 5.0L HO V8 from North America

Summary:

Great reliable car for a teenager, cheap to maintain!

Faults:

Oil pan leaked, was alittle rusted..happens..

TV Cable acted weird for a few months, turned out it was sticky and works fine now and has ever since..

Had misfiring for a bit because of bad gasoline.

General Comments:

This is a great first car for a teenager to own. It's a heavy car, safe, and reliable. Its pretty darn good on gas mileage too even though it's a V8. Has great power as well. I've loved this car ever since I got it, nothing like going for a cruise on a sunny day in the country with the sunroof open. Its also a good car for doing parents' chores they want you to do, the trunk size is great so its capable of fitting a lot of stuff in it. It's also a good car in winter, due to its heavy weight it stays on the road. It's also a very comfortable car, has a very comfortable back seat and in the front you get plenty of leg room and head room as well. On the highway the car is so smooth and stable as well, good overall handling.

Overall it's a great car. I'm keepin this baby as long as I can.

1993 Ford Thunderbird LX 3.8 from North America

Summary:

An alright car with many problems

Faults:

My head gaskets blew at 105,000 miles. Two months after ownership!

The left side of the front end of the car has basically fallen off.

The seats have started to wear.

The headlights do not always work.

The power steering makes noises.

The passenger side window does not roll down.

The drivers side speaker cover has fallen off, and the back seat speaker cover is falling off.

General Comments:

The car handles very well at high speeds.

The car isn't expensive.

The car is fast, but if you push the pedal too hard, the gaskets will blow. This car is known for faulty head gaskets. The Thunder-bird is a great car, but there are too many "little" problems that occur all the time.
