1997 Ford Windstar GL 3.8 from North America

Summary:

This is your worst nightmare

Faults:

ABS lights on and off for no reason.

Check engine sign turns on when traveling more than 100 miles and goes off after a week.

Door ajar lights turn on and take more than 2 hours to turn off even though all the door are closed.

Internal lights won't go off very easily.

Power window button stuck on the passenger side.

General Comments:

This is worst vehicle anyone can own. Once the warranty period expires all the problems will start. I don't wish this vechile even to my worst enemy.

I tried to talk to customer service representative, but they are no help. All they want to say is once that warranty is expired, you are on your own. They don't even give me the presidential complaint.

This vehicle is not build to last. It is built to ruin your life.

I honestly request all the future customers not to consider any Ford vehicles, they all are bad and their service is horrible.

There nothing good to talk about this vehicle or Ford Motor Company.

Why do people still buy Ford Windstars when the whole internet is slating them?

On the door jar alarm problem... I had the same thing happen to me. I sprayed some WD-40 into the door jam and this solved the problem. Seems it gets a little dirty over time and fails to function properly. This should take care of your problem as well. When you open your door, look straight down about waist high. You should see the door latching mechanism. This is where I sprayed the oil. I opened and closed the door several times and this problem has yet to have occurred again!!! Hope this helps ease some of your pain... Good Luck!

1997 Ford Windstar LX 3.8L from North America

Summary:

The largest automobile manufacturer in the world, and this is how they treat their customers!?

Faults:

The interior dome light will intermittently stay on after the door is closed. Door sensors have all been replaced. Some replaced multiple times in the 2 years I've owned the vehicle.

The "door ajar" chime has recently started to accompany the dome light.

Speedometer jumps wildly above 50 MPH.

General Comments:

Dealership has "never heard of these problems" before. My neighbor brought his 1996 Windstar to the same dealership for the same problems / repairs!!

This car is not worth anything! Do not buy one!

I've been a loyal Ford customer for over 30 years, but never again.

I own a 1997 Ford Wind-star with a 3.8 liter engine. The speedometer needle jumps wildly at 50 mph. The speedometer "head" needed to be replaced and when asked if covered under my extended warranty I was told it was not. Also, the interior light stays on and the door chimes ring constantly. I noticed this especially if it is raining. These items should definitely be a recalled item. Janet W.
