1988 GMC Safari 4.3 from North America

Summary:

It was pretty darn RELIABLE & comfy

Faults:

* One big bracket came loose. It's the one that holds the pulleys and everything (it connects to the engine).

* Power steering pump went out.

General Comments:

On May 18, 2014, I hit a deer.

My GMC Safari kept going as if nothing happened. But when I finally got a chance to check it, smoke was coming out...

Mr. Hancock had bought the vehicle brand new in 1988. I bought it from his estate for only $750.

I'll miss having "Brownie" to drive for fun.

I'm already looking for a replacement.

1988 GMC Safari SLE 4.3L V6 Gas from North America

Summary:

A bargain of a vehicle

Faults:

I have had to replace the motor and some bulbs. The rear doors don't open, and the locks have a short.

General Comments:

It has been a very good vehicle besides the motor but I bought it cheap so it was very much worth it to replace it.The 4.3Ls are very powerful, nice to tow in and also comfy for up to 8 people. A high step in height and also since it is built on truck platform id does not have as a refined ride as most front wheel drive minivans.

I have a 1988 GMC Safari, it's been a very good van.

The motor never gave me any problems.

The only thing's I had to fix were the two speakers in the back doors, I had to get it painted, and a new radio. Besides that it's been a great van.
