1991 GMC Sonoma SLX 2.5 from North America
Summary:
It is a sweet fast pimp ride
Faults:
Runs a little hotter than it should.
Heater fan doesn't shut off when the switch is shut off.
Oil pressure gauge doesn't work right.
Vibrates like a mother when going 55+MPH even after having it realigned and the tires balanced.
One day my interior light wouldn't shut off, my horn didn't work, my cigarette lighter didn't work, my CD player didn't work, now my dash lights don't work. Then two days later all except dash lights worked.
I have replaced the same 2 tail lights 3 times since I've had this truck.
General Comments:
But let me tell you this little pimp ride gets all the girls with no trouble at all. It is all white with 17 inch rims with low pro's. It has a blank side truck cap (no side windows), tinted windows to 10%, 6 12 inch JL subs that push 210 decibels, lowered 3 inches in front and 4 in the rear and ground effects. I will be dropping a 350 in it this summer.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

1991 ext s-10 Sonoma 4.3 liter.
I have owned my truck for 7 years, all the usual maintenance problems, shocks, alternator, muffler and pipes, split hanger bearing on drive-shaft, battery, heater motor, heater switch, short in the steering column, blows reverse and signal lights at the same time, try to keep the wires off the brake pedal arm.
Rebuilt the truck, new fenders, doors, quarter patch panels, windshield, paint for around $2500.00 Canadian, on the road.
Truck has always started excellent as long as you keep the distributor cap clean otherwise hard to start.
Don't put to much weight in the box to hard on the little truck.
Parts are cheap in Canada, mostly from Canadian tire, also use a K&N Filter still only get 15 mpg in town and 22 mpg. on highway.
Truck has 172,000 km and still pulls strong, I still love it...

It's very common for GM trucks to blow a fuse, due to using the lighter in the truck. When the lighter fuse goes, so does the horn, CD player, and interior lights go off because they are connected to the same fuse. It's only like 25 cents for a new fuse. I own a 1991 Sonoma, and I love working on it.
