1992 Holden Berlina 3.8 V6 from Australia and New Zealand
Summary:
Will buy another one given more room on the drive way!
Faults:
The car ran out of petrol, the crap in the tank clogged up the fuel filter - simple DIY replacement.
Also caused by faulty install of fuel pump.
Previous owner had trouble with the crank sensor, which resurfaced after the incident.
The car would go for a few minutes, once the temperature got over halfway on the gauge the engine would shut down and would not start until it cooled down, took ages to trace the problem to the crank sensor.
Rust down the bottom of the back windscreen - a common fault.
Tranny does not lock/click properly when shifted down to D from D (overdrive), would get stuck between D and 2.
Aerial would not go up or down - the motor is shot.
General Comments:
Grunty mother of a v6.
The tranny is fairly smooth.
It handles like a boat in the middle of the atlantic ocean.
Generally reliable.
Cloth trim inside fairly hard wearing.
14 years of sun on the white paint has not done a lot of damage.
Nice looking sedan in white with red rubbing strip.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
