1989 Honda Accord SE-i coupe 2.0 from North America
Summary:
Good little car
Faults:
Power steering line: $36.00.
Windshield wipers: $11.00.
Alternator: $150.00.
Valve cover gasket: $15.00.
General Comments:
I bought the car for $900, and was told the only thing that was wrong was an oil leak, which we fixed.
The people told us it was manual steering, and after further looking into the car, we found that it is power steering, and they just didn't want to mention the power steering line was shot, so we replaced that.
Recently the car wouldn't start without being jumped, and so we got it checked, and it needed an alternator, which we got.
So we've had the car almost 2 months, and this is everything we've fixed so far, not to mention it needs window motors on both sides.
Other than that, the car is great, and I believe we got it for a pretty good deal.
No check engine light, no other strange happenings.
The car is very roomy, which I didn't expect, and it also has has tilt wheel, which I very much enjoy, and it gets great gas mileage, $25 will fill her up.
Overall I'm pretty satisfied.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Wikipedia is wrong. I've owned many Accords, and I can tell you that up until 1990 when the body style changed, they were ALL carburated. If it's got the flip-out headlights, it's gonna be carburated no matter what. $400 sounds like a deal. Depends whats wrong with it really, but in my experience these cars WILL run up to and over 350,000 miles without any major powertrain rebuild. Just basic maintenance. So chances are it's worth fixing.
Plus the overall design was spot-on, as many newer vehicles like my '99 Lumina don't even have some of the interior features and comforts that came standard on the late 1980's Accords. And you can find parts for these things EVERYWHERE. I will always own one of these amazing machines, even if it's just as a secondary car.

Guys, the 1989 SEi sedan is fuel injected 2.0 120hp.

Actually you're wrong. I own a 1989 Honda Accord LXi, and guess what? It's fuel injected. The "i" in LXi represents the fuel injection. They weren't all carbureted.

I just got an Accord DX 88 for 400, and it looks like it's gonna need a lot of work. Wikipedia says all the models for the year are fuel injection, but mine looks like it is carburated. =(
