1991 Honda Accord EX 2.2L from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

My car for life

Faults:

So far nothing has really bad has gone wrong with the car. This could be due to good servicing from previous owner.

The only problem is the vibration of the whole car?

Tried to get his fix, but to no prevail.

The automatic transmission is also a little rough. But little bit of oil soon fixed that.

A low brake, needs a little pumping to stop it from moving at the traffic lights. Otherwise the breaks are very good.

Needed new rear speakers. Both of them had blown because I had a new stereo installed. Oops.

General Comments:

This car is a great car to drive.

Handles very well and engine is good, even if it is a little high on the revs.

Can get about 600 kilometers per tank.

Very comfortable to drive for long distances. Also looks cool with a sunroof.

1991 Honda Accord LX 2.3 from North America

Summary:

A sporty feeling economy car worth every penny

Faults:

The questionably maintained water pump went at 145,000. A piece of metal corroded and let coolant leak at 165,000 (no big deal). Both steering arms and joints went at 150,000. Clutch fluid leaked at 150,000 (no big deal).

General Comments:

This car has quite quick considering it's not small and a just a 2.2L four-banger.

These cars have an excellent resale value!

Good gas economy especially considering the performance.

It Hugs curves.

It's max speed is above 120mph. It's not a sports car, but it has a sporty feel considering what it is. I don't recommend driving that fast often.

Honda has made a loyal customer.

1991 Honda Accord EX 4 cylinder. from North America

Summary:

Great first car, excellent gas mileage, low miles for its age

Faults:

Drivers side back window was off track, had to put back on track.

Needed a jack, tire tie down.

Trunk leaks when it rains. Hole by back wheel causing water off the tire to come up into trunk to make it wet. Needed pugged.

Vibrates really bad when idoling. Put in (N) when stopped at stop light to help stop.

Sometimes have to turn steering wheel to turn ignition.

Had to repair rust on the passengers side, by the back wheel.

Been in one accident and got repainted, crappy paint job. Pealing in some spots, but good for age.

Hasn't been in shop, but only to put on a new muffler (fell off).

General Comments:

Great first car!

Plenty of room, comfortable, safe.

Excellent gas mileage.

Not too many buttons, all easy to understand.

Can judge really easy and gets in tight spaces.

Excellent factory speakers. Tons of bass.

Great condition for its age.

Have it looked over by someone who works at Honda or knows there car *very* well.

I have to agree with you-Asian cars are not immune from mechanical problems. My sister bought a '96 Toyota Corrola in '97 (with only 20,000 kms.) & 2 months later the motor went in it (luckily the car was still under warranty).I think any vehicle is as good as the previous owner takes care of it.

1991 Honda Accord Ex type R 2.2 Litre 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Great first car for young people.

Faults:

Brakes and Rotors had to be replaced.

Bearings had to be replace at 260000km.

Heater control unit broke and had to be replaced.

Radiator Cracked at 290000km. Cheap fix though, just put a patch on it.

The Clutch just went at 291000km same with the 3rd gear syncs. I am expecting a costly fix for that.

Just had the CV joints and entire suspension replaced, $1000.

The rear quarter panel is rusting and needs some attention, what else is new.

The power antenna is bent and needs to be replaced, I am the third owner of the car, I know the first 2 owners. The motor to the antenna was unplugged since the original owner bought it, the antenna was left up and bent in the car wash. Still a replacement is $100 just for the antenna.

The head gasket and oil pan gasket are starting to leak and need to be replaced. An easy home job.

The passenger side door handle is cracked twice.

General Comments:

This is a perfect road trip car, it is extremely comfortable, and reliable.

When I bought the car I changed the spark plugs and the air filter to a K&N. This made a huge difference in gas mileage and power.

This car is amazing on gas mileage, on average I get 600km in the city and 750 to 800 on the highway. Depending on how you drive it.

The handling on this car is amazing.
