1998 Honda Accord EX from North America

Summary:

A comfortable, high performance, reliable car!

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

The Honda Accord Coupe is a great car. Traveling home from college over Spring Break I ran off the road and flipped my 1994 Accord twice and landed upside down in a ditch. I crawled out the window without a scratch or bruise. This happened three weeks ago and I just bought a 1998 Accord. This is the only car I will buy! This is the safest and most dependable car out there.

Have a 1988 Accord with 300k miles. Had a 1998 Accord for 1 year and that thing was nowhere close to the quality of the 88 Accord. Accords in America got the Chevy syndrome. They have more power than the original Japanese Accords, but no substance.

I would have to disagree with the added comment. I traded my '88 Accord LX for a 2000 (same body style as the '98). Both were built in Marysville, Ohio, and both were even the same color.

The only thing I can see as possibly "better" in the '88 is that the outer body seemed more tank-like and indestructible. But the 2000 is so much more smooth, quiet, refined, and comfortable. And when you shut the doors, you get that solid Benz-like "thunk" without paying 38 grand. And in comparison, the 2000 is huge, but still gets great gas mileage. And at 75K miles it still feels like a new car. To top it off, the re-sale value is still excellent on the new ones: The market is harsh, and doesn't play favorites.

If you want to see "Chevy syndrome," just look where you'd expect to find it: GM.

1998 Honda Accord EX V6 from North America

Faults:

Fuel gauge gone after 2K miles. That's it.

General Comments:

Great cruiser and everyday vehicle. Can plow through snow too. Pretty small interior though even though Honda made the interior larger. Just too small for my body size 6'2 200lbs. I need a truck. Honda?

1998 Honda Accord EX V6 3 Litre Vtec from North America

Faults:

Fuel tank sender unit failed.

General Comments:

Great buy, relatively cheap to run.

The Vtec engine is superb, it out-runs BMW's, Audi's and anything American in the same price range.

Wish that Honda would offer it with a manual transmission, or switchable box, the 4 speed automatic fitted as standard must be impacting on the car's true performance potential.

What are my chances of finding a v6 accord with a manual transmission from the late '90s?gimijames01@aol.com.

I'm wondering the same as the last post. After reading these reviews I've ended up with an excitement about getting my hands on a 5-speed Accord. Are there any out there? j_anthony@hotmail.com.

1998 Honda Accord Coupe V6 from North America

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Great car. Only problem is for short drivers. The rear window area, slanting up from the back of the rear seats to the rear window, slants at such an angle that it impares the visibility of short drivers -- makes it hard to back into parking or driveways, wtc.
