2000 Honda Accord EX V6 Cpe 3.0L from North America

Summary:

At best, the coupe is a compromise without much substance

Faults:

The front-left quarter panel was misaligned. I missed it when I originally took ownership.

The O2 sensor failed at 51.2k miles.

The alternator and EGR valve were busted at 59k w/i 1 week of each other. This episode cost me ~$700.

The paint chipped all over the hood and bumper even though I live in a temperate zone with minimal road debris even in the winter.

General Comments:

There are very few manufacturers in this price range that can compete with Honda ergonomics.

However, before I forgo the 2 rear doors in my next car, I must have more performance than the lackluster 200 horses.

For an engine that averages only ~21 miles/gallon, the mere 200hp just does not cut it.

I don't know what's wrong with your car, but the j30a2 200hp 3.0L VTEC has PLENTY of power. I CRAVE horsepower, and I have been in TL's, Cobra's, SRT-4's-- you name it! The Accord just *feels* lighter on it's feet, even in comparison to the 02-03 TL Type-S, which are considered the so-called "beefed up Accord EX's". Don't be afraid to rev it past 3,600RPMs.. that's where it begins to shine!

I decided to buy one because of the performance it had. Yes, the performance; not the looks. I took my best friends 98 AV6 Sedan for a spin last winter with an AEM Short Ram Intake, and took it down my street at full throttle, and boy was I impressed. It hit 60 before I even realized it, and just listening to all 6 cylinders and 24 valves going full-out VTEC with the intake made me feel like I was driving some kind of formula car up and down my street! His car wasn't some kind of factory freak either, in fact, it had close to 200k miles!!

Just recently, I have purchased a 2000 Accord Coupe V6. Even with 2 passengers, the Accord hauled throughout town during my test drive. I think what you may need is a little extra oomph, so spend no more than $150 for an AEM Short Ram Induction system-- your car will freaking fly! Either way though, even with the automatic transmission, this car has enough power to break the tires loose for 30 ft! I was making a left turn onto a highway on ramp and when I floored it, the tires just ripped apart the asphault!

This car is within the sporty V6 realm of performance. This car has unique road manners, which in my opinion allows it to knock the doors off of plenty of cars on the road. Personally, I think I would endanger myself if the Accord had 300 ponies.

2000 Honda Accord EX- Coupe 3.0L from North America

Summary:

7 out of 10

Faults:

Check Engine Light- Egr pipe- covered by warranty.

Check Engine Light- Dealer stated I did not close gas cap 3 clicks. I argued and they gave me a one time reprieve from the $90 service charge.

SRS light came on and off. A few dashboard lights flashed upon acceleration from stoplights. I had 69000 miles. at the time. It turned out to be the Delphi alternator.

General Comments:

Overall, good car so far, however we'll see if that recalled tranny lasts! I owned a 1994 Acura Integra GSR before this car and had even more problems in the 60-80K range. I'm starting to lose my confidence in Honda reliability. We shall see how this one turns out as I plan on keeping it a while.

2000 Honda Accord 4 cylinder from North America

Summary:

The car is a good city and travel vehicle with few flaws

Faults:

There have been numerous electrical problems with this car. Maintenance, airbag, and e-brake dash lights come on intermittently and have no mechanical reason for doing so.

The gas pedal sticks occasionally when transitioning from parked. This is dangerous in a parking-lot scenario where the driver has to punch the gas to get going and could result in a low speed collision.

General Comments:

My wife uses this car as a commuter vehicle, but it doesn't get the excellent gas mileage that you'd expect from a 4 cylinder Honda. Typically we get low 20's for mpg in the city and near 30 for extended travel.

The car is a comfortable one to drive and has performed well under the circumstances.
