2001 Honda Accord DX VP from North America

Summary:

Good car mines just A lemon

Faults:

My brakes started to make noise two days after getting the car, then the trans. went out for the first time at 6200 miles then again at 12800 miles, and since then it has never been the same. In total I've taken it in 6 times for the trans. and three times for the brakes. I tried to go to the dealership from where I got the car and they have not been very helpful.

General Comments:

Personally I just think that this car is a lemon and they (Honda America) disagree I mean don't get me wrong Honda makes A good car just not this one. It shifts very hard and has no power. However the body style is perfect after all that's why I bought the car, that and the history of how good Honda's were and how long they can last.

Summary:

An Excellent Vehicle For And Use

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Great car. Performance is good, handling is great, and the level of comfort is great. Acceleration is pretty good. Mine has 150 horsepower and its pretty quick. The 6 speakers CD player is great. The seats are very comfortable. Everything about this car is great. I haven't had it for too long yet, but it seems as though it will last forever. The cabin is pretty quiet when the car is cruising.

Watch out for that "sloppy shifting". It could be a sign that the transmission is about to blow. This is a common problem with Hondas. Trust me, after my family's experience with Honda, I should know. My relatives have not had one Honda with an automatic that didn't have tranny problems. Hondas are junk. Don't bother with anything that says "Honda" or "Acura" on the trunklid. You might as well just throw the money out of the window.

Honda has extended the warranty on auto transmission on 2000-2001 Accords. Mine is bad as well. Dealer is replacing. My driver seat broke at weld as well. My Honda experience is dimming by the day. My 98 Pontiac GTP never spent a day in the shop and could seriously outperform my V6 Accord. Shouldn't have given it to my son for a college graduation gift.

In response to the "Hondas are junk" comment, I've had a 1993 Accord for over 100,000 miles, right now the odo reads 275,000, and the car is still running. There have been several problems recently, but for god's sake, the car's could have been driven around the earth 10 times!! I would definitely NOT classify that as "junk".

Mike out.

My roomate has a 2000 Grand Prix and he has had to replace the manifold gasket at 80,000 miles, and many other parts having to do with poor quality. such as interior parts, etc. Right now he has an oil leak. His parents bought the car new and now drive Honda and Toyota cars and are happy. Do not fall for trickery and buy a Pontiac Grand Prix.

2001 Honda Accord EX 2.? (4 cylinder) from North America

Summary:

Great Deal - Drove off the lot for $20k, could trade it in today $15.5k - I've had 3 yrs next month!

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car to date other than a slight scratch on the passenger side, but that was from someone's carelessness in the parking lot.

General Comments:

Excellent car is still in excellent condition - I wish it had a bit more performance.

The tires - while good (Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus 195/65R15's) do seem so "squeal" a bit easy when going around a corner. A bit embarrassing when you're pushing a yellow light and your 5 year-old is in the car. The car is capable of cornering quite beyond the point the tires begin to make their "squeal" - however, the "squeal" does allow you to stay within reasonable driving limitations. Though, without the kids I can easily take a 35mph on-ramp at 70mph without fear - very good balance.

That's a 2.4 if it's a 4 cylinder.

The 98-02 6th generation Accord had a 2.3 liter (basically a warmed over 2.2 from the previous 90-97 generations) both were of the F-series family. The 2.4 (which is an entirely different K-series family) wasn't dropped into Accords until the 2003 model year.
