2003 Honda Accord 2.4i executive 2.4 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A high price for a below average car

Faults:

Rear Suspension has been replaced due to strange creaking sounds.

Air conditioning failed at 4000 miles and has smelt foul since it's replacement.

Air mass filters replaced.

Alarm is the bain of my neighbouhood.

Battery continually runs down.

Alloy wheels have corroded.

General Comments:

The interior rattles to the point of being annoying.

It feels very light on the road and can be wind guided above certain speeds.

The looks which I thought good at the time of purchase are now starting to make the car look like an aging taxi.

The paint is of especially low quality, after going down the motorway a few times the bonnet appears to have been flayed, the rest of the simply looks tired even though it is professionally valeted each month.

My Vectra was better.

Next time I Will by something with real quality - something German.

2003 Honda Accord EX 3.0 from North America

Summary:

An intelligent car for day trips

Faults:

Run into in the back bumper by a 1991 Honda Accord, damage to my Accord $1300, damage to the 91 Accord $2000. The Honda Dealer body shop was able to correctly repair the bumper after 2 visits to the shop. Shop was unable to tell that it had not been correctly repaired in the first visit.

Drivers leather seat showed premature wear at 11k miles, seat cover replaced under warranty.

General Comments:

The car is very fast, and on trips up to 300 miles fairly comfortable. Attempting a trip of 1000 miles is another story. The comfort available during an extended ride is not as satisfactory.

Gas economy is 30mpg on the highway.

2003 Honda Accord EX 2.4L DOHC VTECH I4 from North America

Summary:

Reliable, fun to drive, V6 performance with I4 economy

Faults:

I had the brakes replaced shortly after I purchased the car because they began to behave strangely for reasons unknown.

That is the only thing that went wrong so far.

General Comments:

The new accord is very reliable, and very pleasant to drive. About the only thing I don't like about it are the brakes. They are a bit too sensitive in my opinion.

The EX I4 Accord performs extremely well given that it has a relatively small, non-turbo/supercharged engine and an automatic. It won't peel the tires flat (unless you have a stick and you want to total your clutch), but it will burn an altima, camry and any other I4 family sedan. The only thing I don't like performance-wise is the intelligent down-shift response when the car is floored in 3-4th gear. The car seems to hesitate before downshifting (as another reviewer reported).

You also get very smooth acceleration, much smoother than a lot of V6s. Unfortunately the smoothness stops there. The ride is considerably bumpy. Every time you hit a slightly sloped manhole cover it feels like you hit a pothole. Also, remember what I said about the brakes :-\

Handling is very precise, and the car has a good turning radius. I haven't done enough crazy steering to report on such things as body roll, sliding etc. Sorry.

The car also gets excellent mileage. You can floor the accelerator every time the light goes green and you still get at least 25mpg. Drive it normally and you can get over 35mpg.

Overall, the car is great. It's fast, reliable, sturdy, economical, looks good, and has a great sound system ^_^

I had an AccordV6, two months after I got it, start to have problems with brakes, took it back to dealer 4 times, they could not fix it. After a year got tired and trade it in for a BMW 325I, what a car!!!

2003 Honda Accord EX 240 hp V6 from North America

Summary:

A high performance, comfortable sports coupe

Faults:

My major complaint is rattles. It had a rattle in the trunk, a noisy sun visor and now a door buzz. The dealer, after three attempts, repaired the first two. The third has been elusive.

General Comments:

Engine performance and handling qualities are superb. The V6 is smooth, quiet and responsive.

However, when needing immediate power, the automatic transmission hesitates as if trying to decide whether to downshift. Once it makes up its mind, hold on tight.

I hear a lot of road noise, a howl which sounds like noisy tires. Either I'm spoiled from having had a Mercedes for 13 years, or the Honda is less well insulated, or, my real suspicion, the Bridgestone tires are noisy.

My 2004 Accord V6 is running well, apart from some minor rattles, as is evidenced from other owners. The annoying door rattle was fixed last week after 10K, including alignment of the same drivers door, which stuck out. Slight rattle in passenger vent was lubricated and loose vent slat was replaced. Still slight rattle from vent. Glovebox buzzes on some harsh surfaces, but only occasionally. Finally CD seemed to cut out after 20 minutes on some CD - but this seems to be ones recorded on computer. Will keep an eye on CD. Otherwise it's a great car and no other issues.
