YES, I really fell for you, I owned a 1987 Honda Accord previously and I had transmission problems as well, but I only got it rebuilt and it was fine.
I'm planning to buy an 88-89 accord for winter and I will be very wise of picking one that does not have any transmission problems.
Thanks for sharing.

You probably just got a car that had bad problems from the getgo.. I have a 1989 Accord, and let me tell you, so far so good! I've driven it from Central California and all the way back.. Might I add, the MPG is beautiful!

I have a 1988 Honda Accord lxi and it is great to drive but it needs a face lift if you will. I plan on rebuilding it. It will take some time but it is worth it. I plan on changing the inside color. So far it has been a lot of fun.

I bought a 89 Accord a little less than a yr. ago.
I've replaced a tie rod, the timing belt & all belts & water pump, which it didn't even need.
It burns oil & currently needs a whole new exhaust.
I've given it 2 tune ups, it had 1 previous owner & everything was original on it when I got it, so considering I do like the car, & knowing it's a 20 year old car with most original parts, I am pleased & it hasn't let me down yet. It has gotten me from point A to B faithfully.

I bought a 1989 Honda Accord LXI, 113000 miles. Now 134000 miles. It runs beautiful. Everything remains like new inside and out. It was bought in 1998. I still have it and plan to add some goodies to get more power and comfort. I love it!
It is a good car and I would recommend it.
