1994 Honda Civic LSI Coupe 1.5 from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Nothing really, just the general service and timing belts changed - not that it was going, but changed just for my own peace of mind overall cheap and very reliable.

General Comments:

This car is very cheap, and it gives you performance, reliability and style for a great price.

I have owned a BMW coupe, and if you compare a BMW 1.6 3 series coupe to 1.5 Civic Coupe, the BMW has the style and luxury, but the Civic is where I would be. That's because I am a young man, and I have raced a 318is and left it to die, because the Honda has rapid acceleration. It's also stylish for the money, and it has a lot of potential for aftermarket products fitments.

So I would recommend this car to anyone who would like a car for everyday use, in the sense of reliability and style, and also to anyone who wants to modify it.

As for the interior, you can fit Prelude bucket seats in it, and maybe perhaps an h22a engine.

The hatchbacks are OK, but if you have a vision of keeping it a Honda, like fitting various Prelude parts in like the engine, then you would see that the Civic Coupe is what the Prelude should have been; a reliable stylish sports car from Honda.

In the future I would go out of my way to purchase a Honda NSX, simply because Hondas are great cars to drive. A great piece of engineering

1994 Honda Civic ESI 1.6 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Awesome!!!

Faults:

Both rear callipers seized due to the car being stood for 4 months before I took ownership.

Standard Honda alarm and immobiliser problem left the engine dead due to the fault. Now sorted.

Insurance - a rip off at group 14! Tax too.

General Comments:

A pretty good car overall, and looks great even now after all these years. Plenty of street cred and aftermarket parts.

The vtec engine is brilliant. It will rev to 7200rpm with 123bhp, and that makes it a car not to be messed with off the lights. Will hit 60mph in 8.7 seconds.

Had a dabble with Saxo VTR and it burnt it, animal.

Reliability is very good, and these can be picked up for about a grand for a good one.

If you think the ESi, is quick you should try a VTi, it's insurance group 16, but it's worth it. It's 160bhp and it will hit 60 in 7.0-7.5 seconds.

1994 Honda Civic DX Sports Coupe from North America

Summary:

Love, love, love my Honda!

Faults:

The side defrosters do not work very well.

General Comments:

This car is reliable, dependable, and a dream to drive. I have had my 5-speed manual Civic since 1994 and still have the original clutch!

I have had regular maintenance on the car without any major parts breaking. There is a bit of rust and the side defrosters don't work that well, but otherwise, I would highly recommend Honda to anyone looking for a reliable yet fun car.

1994 Honda Civic ESi 1.6 SOHC Vtec from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Economical car, with some fire under the hood if needed!

Faults:

Replaced two engine mountings.

Replace exhaust centre pipe and also the back box.

Was idling erratically when I got it, but I solved it after some research!

General Comments:

Very reliable car with good performance when the engine is pushed hard, which is what it seems to be built for.

Not as quick as its DOHC counterpart, but this car will stay with any GTI.

The engine is in great condition, i.e. not burning any oil, which surprised me as I expected it burn a little. Like other reviewers, I would urge people to serviced their Honda regularly (especially oil change).

Finally this car is very economical when driven sparingly!

1994 Honda Civic VTi 1.6 vtec from UK and Ireland

Summary:

VTEC monster that would put the GTI to shame

Faults:

Nothing really.

General Comments:

I had a Vectra 2.0 SRi before this, and I ended up selling it because it just had too many faults, and cost too much to run and repair.

After selling the Vectra, I thought I want something reliable with some power. A mate of mine was telling me to get a Honda, so I thought I would give it a try, I had a budget of about 2000, I was browsing the Autotrader site, I came across a Civic 1.6 VTi with low mileage and 1 owner, so I went out and bought it.

First impressions - the car looked pretty nice, nice interior lowered suspension, VTEC decals on the bottom of the rear doors.

Driving - it's fast below 5.5k revs, but after that the VTEC kicks in and the car flies, the sound it makes is incredible when in VTEC mode. Compared to my Vectra it doesn't have as much torque, but is miles faster, gets to 60 3 seconds quicker without breaking down either.

I'm not a boy racer, but I don't mind racing at the lights that's if the car next to me is up for it, I've beaten Toyota Starlet Turbos, Astra GSIs, Saxo VTSs, Novas, Renault 5 Turbos, Golf GTIs, the list goes on. It can't quite keep up with Subaru's etc, but again it's only a 1.6 NA.

For a 1.6 it's ridiculously powerful with about 160bhp. I highly recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a cheap to run, reliable, fast car.
