1999 Honda Civic LX from North America
Summary:
A good buy for the money
Faults:
Cd player and radio "malfunctioned" and had to be completely replaced after 1 year (covered under warranty).
Windshield wipers had to be replaced prematurely.
Brakes wear easily.
General Comments:
Although this is a very reliable car that is pretty comfortable, this is definitely not a winter vehicle. The car does terrible in the snow. The car rides very smoothly and is very quick, but is pretty noisy at high speeds.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I am very happy with my '99 civic LX. Lately I have added performance parts such as a K&N air filter and Bosch Platinum 4 spark plugs. I have also added accessories such as Altezza tailights, Carbine security system with automatic locks, half bra for the front end, and blue emblems for the front and rear of the car. Soon I will be adding 16" five spoke racing rims with a lower profile tire...205/40's I believe. The only problem I wish I didn't have with the thing is it sucks in the winter. it doesn't handle the snow very well at all. But this is a small price to pay when it looks so good in the summer.

Just responding to the previous comment regarding gas mileage.
I have a 1999 LX and the lowest mileage I have measured between fill-ups is 33. I have averaged 37 since owning the vehicle and have had over 42 mpg on two consecutive fill-ups while driving very conservatively.
I have been very happy with it.

I'm general satisfied with my 1999 Honda Civic LX. It handles well and is comfortable. On the down side, although the EPA (and Honda) gives mileage figures as 32 (City) and 38 (Highway, my usual mileage is 18 to 22 (City) and 35-38 (Hihway) - not what's advertised - even after replacing of plugs and a tuneup.
The radio leaves lots to be desired. Fidelity is poor, it drifts, and sensitivity is poor.
