2009 Honda Civic Si Sedan 2.0 DOHC from North America

Summary:

Siiiii Senior!

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the Civic Si.

General Comments:

The Civic Si sedan is a great car with lots of power on demand under the hood. I got a red one with factory foglights.

The manufacturer declares 197 HP and a redline of 8-8.5K rpm. I tried driving and revving the engine to 8K and it feels great! However, Honda has installed a rev limiter, which lowers the fun and thrill of the ride.

The red/orange illumination in the dashboard is distinct compared to other regular Civics. The remote audio control located on the left side of the steering wheel is very practical, as well as the cruise control on the right side.

The aluminum shift knob becomes uncomfortable the longer you drive the car. I wished Honda made the knob bigger and leather-wrapped instead of metal.

The aluminum pedals are cool, although I wish Honda put some carbon-fiber trimmings on the dash instead of just black and some metallic trimmings.

The car consumes more fuel than a regular Civic with a 1.8 L engine. 50L of fuel in the Si can give you a maximum of 480kms... if you drive conservatively.

The VTEC kicks in at around 6K rpm and it feels like there's a turbocharger under the hood.

LSD helps in takeoffs and the stock alloys & tires are OK. Handling is very good especially in cornering and the ABS helps a lot. Ride is stiff and overall comfort is sacrificed. But hey, you got an Si so you got to live with it eh?

Personally, I liked the sedan (4 door) better than the Si coupe (friend owns one). The sedan feels more balanced and stable and my friend agrees with this observation.

Overall, I give this car both thumbs up! Great for a small family or just hanging out with buddies! Mild mannered, but has a wild side when provoked :)

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Hey! A Honda is still a Honda, A well assembled with tiny cheap parts but reliable car!. What happened, you didn't like your BMW!? I don't care about red or blue lights, nearly 200 hp but no torque! Doesn't need it because it's so light and tiny, it's a nice looking reliable small car but two thumbs up! Let me think again!

So what are you saying, it's made for "senior" citizens? I agree.

Well, what I meant with Siii Senior (Spanish) translation is "Yes sir or yes man!" My old BMW was so conservative and contained. It has power but lacks the ferociousness and roar of the engine that the Si offers.

Very quick. 50 to 70 in a flash. I can get 33 mpg if I stay off the gas. There is no better car for 23K.
