I have 01 Civic with about 116k on it and my clutch started slippin also and it stalled on me (auto tranny) and to make this long story short, I was told I need a new transmission. Going with a rebuilt now.

My boyfriend bought a 2001 Honda Civic EX V-Tec back in early 2002 when Honda was having their clearance sale. He started having issues with it about 2 years ago (not sure of the mileage then) with the struts, catalytic converter, and just recently, the V-Tec solenoid.

I've never heard of anyone having this many issues with an import before. I've always thought that Honda had good quality cars, but my boyfriend's issue with his Civic made me think different.

Right now he cannot afford to replace the struts or do pretty much anything with it, seeing as it would total out to be over $1000 in repairs.

I have rode in his car plenty of times, and it's so noisy, is bouncy, and feels like a deathtrap. It has only 118k on it and it has this many problems?!? No thanks, Honda! I'll keep my Toyota and I'm pretty sure he won't be buying another Honda again!

Also, anyone who has issues with suspension, transmission, etc. with their '01 Civics please call Honda and complain... hopefully then they will start a recall.

15:58 - Struts are normal wear & tear items.

100,000 miles & you're complaining?

To Comment 15:58:

That's really not that many problems. Try driving a domestic with that many miles and you'll see what I mean.

As for the ride being noisy and bumpy, well what did you expect? It's an economy car, not a Mercedes.

When you made your heading... did you note the big difference in price from buying a Civic... vs an Accord or Camry? I bought a 2003 Civic EX for my teen; larger 15" wheels and better ride and options than a DX.

I have a Honda Civic EX 2001. The transmission has gone. The car has only 90k. For me this car is bad, bad...
