These newer Honda from 2016 on have numerous issues. Honda quality is quite loose lately. As an example, all 1.5 turbo engines on CR-V and Civic are susceptible of the issue called 'oil dilution' especially in hot or very cold weather. At start up, if the engine is left idling without driving the car and raising the engine temperature quickly, unburned gasoline mixture can leak past the piston oil ring and inside the oil pan causing oil dilution, mechanical engine wear, various indicators going off and ultimately engine seizing up. It seems there can be so much gasoline getting mixed with the engine oil, the engine oil level is rising inside the oil pan, fouling sensors and ultimately passing back through the compression rings and onto the catalytic converter, possibly damaging it - this is on top of the engine mechanical wear due to drastically oil lubrication reduction. You may also smell inside the cabin like rotten eggs. It's a major problem on the new turbo engines from Honda http://www.hondaproblems.com/oil-dilution/
Honda has a recall and will adjust the fuel mixture, but at the base, the problem still remains.

Sorry about your problems with your 2016 Honda CR-V. Usually that's a good, solid, simple vehicle. Also looked up carcomplaints.com, but didn't see mention of a seized water pump, just nothing on that. Everything under the sun on a complaint on that vehicle was there, but nothing on a water pump problem.
