I have to say, mine has 190k miles and I've not seen any of these problems. Some things have gone wrong, but at 190k you have to expect it.

I think you just had a lemon.. these cars do have some problems, but none of the ones you mentioned. Like most people my driveshaft just fell off, luckily it was at a stop sign at 180k miles instead of on the interstate. Window motor broke, AC idler pulley locked up.. uh.. that's pretty much it.

I am in Calgary Alberta, Canada, it gets to -36C here in winter and it can be pretty tough on vehicles.

My 97 CRV now has 398,XXXkm's on it with not even an oil leak. The cruise does not work anymore and the power locks don't work anymore (but I can still lock all doors manually). And the stabilizer end links need to be done, but it has almost 400K!

This is a great vehicle, no complaints at all. A lot of people say it's underpowered, well it is a N/A 2 litre in an SUV. I think considering that, the power is not that bad.

I would drive it to Vancouver tomorrow without a worry, and might do just that in about a week from now.

I love it so much that I am looking for another lower km unit, so that I can keep on driving one of these for another 10 years. The dealer told me that there was another one that came in with the end links and some washer fluid needed (and nothing more), it had over 500K on it and still running perfect. He also said that this early generation on the CRV was the best one and pretty much bullet proof.

I have had over 20 VW's and love them to death, but will always have a CRV as well from now on.

I have a 97 Honda CRV.

Besides having routine maintenance, including three timing belts and a distributor, it's been an unbelievable vehicle.

I now have 304,000 miles on it. It still runs great, everything works mechanically and electronically, these are awesomely reliable vehicles.
