2017 Honda Jazz EX 1.3 petrol from UK and Ireland
Summary:
I would buy another - ticks all the boxes I require
Faults:
Nothing has gone wrong. 2 MOT's passed with a wiper blade being the only part required to pass the last MOT.
General Comments:
Never even taken a second glance at a Jazz until a part exchange offer bought me out of my previous PCP deal, and gave me interest free terms and five years free servicing. It wasn't a car on my list. I will replace it with another when the time comes.
The motoring press slate the CVT gearbox and state the performance is mediocre. Everyone has their opinion. Keep the engine below 3000 rpm, accelerate gently, and I get 55 mpg all day long - based on motorway, fast A road, and local routes to and from work.
Take it above 3000 rpm and it can surprise. It can shift when required if you don't mind revving it. Road holding is good. Suspension is fine. Steering into corners doesn't require a change of input. Controls are light and responsive. Lots of safety kit as standard.
Everyone goes on about the magic seats - they are useful. Boot space is good for a car of its size, and rear legroom is the best I've seen in class. Looking at other vehicles in the segment, none come close. Rear seats have a two stage recline which is good on longer journeys.
At 70 mph engine RPM is 2500 with sound deadening not being too bad. There are quieter cars out there, but if the radio is on you don't hear the engine.
At 17,000 miles it's on its original tyres with 5mm all round.
According to the press the average age of a Jazz owner is 61. I'm about 10 years too early. The only downside of this stereotype is being cut up regularly by drivers not reading your actual speed, and assuming you're dawdling.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
