1994 Hyundai Elantra 1.6 from North America
Summary:
An unbelievable bargain
Faults:
Timing belt broke due to a faulty tensioner. Resulting damage required replacement of all 16 valves. Since I do my own repairs this was not a major problem, but was still a costly mistake. Be sure to replace the belt at the recommended intervals.
Manual transmission suffered from a bad bearing at 197,000 miles.
General Comments:
This car just did not know when to quit. We have had the car since new and it was always a pleasure to drive. A little noisy (engine and road noise) but for the price paid it cannot be beat.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
