2005 Hyundai Santa Fe from North America

Summary:

Solid, would buy another

Faults:

NADA.

General Comments:

Good reliable semi-sport utility so far. Wife's car. She does NOTHING to take care of it. I keep up as best I can, but OUR service record is poor.

Regardless, not one serious issue yet.

2005 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.5 from North America

Summary:

Unreliable after about the 40,000 mark

Faults:

At approx. 40,000 miles I began having a problem with the car accelerating and lunging forward on it's own. Then slowing down, then lunging forward...

This is the 3rd episode. The dealer said it was the throttle sensor. This is very dangerous.

General Comments:

Thought it was great. But now I'm wondering if I should think about getting another car before this problem gets worse and I get in an accident from the car lunging ahead on its own.

2005 Hyundai Santa Fe from North America

Summary:

I wouldn't buy another Hyundai of any kind

Faults:

First day the brake line was leaking.

The compass stopped working, the dealer ordered the part and replaced it and told me the clock was still not working. He didn't even know it was not a clock. The second compass works fine.

The wheel bearing on the right side went. The dealer replaced it.

The driver side mirror would not adjust, they said nothing was wrong with it and when I got it back it worked OK. I had a few people try and adjust it and they could not. It would only adjust in two directions.

There was a short in the electrical system. When I put on the left blinker everything blinked. They claimed it was the tow hitch U-haul put in and charged me. The hitch is not hooked up, but the short came back. Now when I step on the brake, all the lights on the dash dim. It's in the shop for that right now.

The left side wheel bearing is gone. It's also in the shop right now for that.

General Comments:

Believe it or not I like this car. I like the ride.

The gas peddle is very sensitive, but I'm used to it. Anyone else driving it has a hard time though.

The gas mileage isn't great, but I didn't expect it to be.

If this car ever gets out of the shop it would be great. I'm going to write the head office to complain.

2005 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.0 V6 from Iceland

Summary:

Looks like an ugly hamster, made by tiny people

Faults:

Nothing to make it stop functioning.

Clock and other electrical equipment quirky after an incident involving a horse and zero visibility! Broken power-assisted mirror triggered the fault.

General Comments:

This car is made for tiny people! My seat is always in the lowest and furthest back position, and it's still uncomfortable. Two hour ride, tops, then I really need to stretch.

Also, MPG sucks on this car. Once upon a time I had a gas guzzling Jeep Grand Cherokee V8, and MPG is similar on these models.

I have a feeling that this SUV attracts more dirt than other vehicles, scientific reasons are unknown to me.

The interior is cheap, especially the upholstery. Air con buttons are also loose in their slots, looks like they'll fall out at the next pothole.

Not the car I was looking for, and as for travelling, forget it. My whole family is sore after a days ride.

Going back to Jeep as soon as I get rid of this junk.

Did you not take this car for a test drive?

It hardly seems reasonable to comment on the car based on some unrepaired damage after striking a horse. If the repairs weren't completed satisfactorily, follow up with the repairer rather than bag the manufacturer.

Warranty? WHAT warranty?

I began having problems with the Hyundai Santa Fe one week after I bought it. The people at Hyundai motor America seem to think it's funny that you have all these problems, and there is nothing you can do about it. I guess they never heard of the Internet.

There's not a Hyundai anywhere with a 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty. While it may sound good, it's not true. I tried hard for two years to get mine fixed, and they never touched it; they told me that they had no intentions of repairing it.

Since they would not repair it, I took white shoe polish and wrote LEMON in bold lettering, and drove the car all over the U.S.

So finally after two years, and unable to get it fixed, I traded the two year old death trap off. Don't let the high mileage warranty fool you, it's not true.

From my point of view, Hyundai does not make a good car, and they do not stand behind their product. Be very careful when you buy.

They probably don't sell a lot of Hyundai products to people in Ashley County.

Yes, I did tell the people that I traded with about the problems this car has, and they said they would fix them.

I was so glad to get rid of this pile of junk. I will never buy another one or have any dealings with this dealership.
