I have a 2005 Tiburon, and had to replace the whole engine 2 years ago, because the water pump went. I was over the warranty mileage, so it was out of my pocket. Since then I have had to replace the water pump 3 more times (I know now that when the heat only works when the gas is pushed, it's time for a new one).
My sun roof only works when it wants to, and I can't even give a number on how many tires I have gone through.
I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE, THAT'S FOR SURE!

I had an 03 Tiburon from 02 to 05. It was the biggest piece of garbage I ever owned. Mine was an automatic, but had all the same problems as listed above with the sunroof breaking every other week. Even though the car was under warranty, the fixes never lasted. My seatbelt chime always went off, the radio would not play when it was raining, I went through a lot of tires. I traded the car in 05 for a new Accord Coupe, and had no problems at all with that car (loved it), before selling it to a co worker and buying an 11 Mustang GT. I will never buy a Korean car again. If you are looking at buying one of these lemon cars, keep looking. You do get what you pay for.

I have a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT (automatic tranny). I'm the 3rd owner, and this car runs like no other. Only had minor problems - blower motor control only works at 1 and 2, and in between 2 and 3 LOL... but other than that, I love it.
Got a set of chrome euro tail lights and an AEM cold air intake, which makes a damn good sound when you put the pedal down LOL... but my car has 149000km's, and I don't understand how a lot of other Tibbys have so much trouble...
Forgot one thing; the guy I got it from put a new computer in it LOL. Guess that's pretty major LOL, and it cost about 1700 at Hyundai, and that's labour included...
I thought about switching my Tibby to a 6 speed manual, but I'll make sure I get good racing parts, not Hyundai LOL...
Well I hope everyone has good luck or even better luck with their Tibbys, and I pray to god nothing else happens to mine LOL. If so, I'm going back to a Chevy or Dodge LOL.

Same thing happened to mine. Still have no clue, along with all my ABS sensors going at the same time, as well as air bar and O2 sensors, e-brake replaced numerous times, clutch a month after I bought it, rear wiper and washer failed, front passenger wiper broke due to worn pressure fitting... power window motor failed, wires to fuse panel melted, and had to replace a computer.
A lot of electrical problems and wiring, and due to the fact the majority of the car is plastic and Korean.
Still trying to figure this one out too LOL.
The biggest problem I'm having right now is my stereo stopped working now, and so did the cabin lights and door ajar bell, which the fuses look fine, so leads me to believe it might be a harness or faulty connection. Someone should really get on top of Hyundai, or keep them out of our market.

I agree. Had to do few DIY fixes, but came down to the dreaded A/C problem as well 1-2 settings flicker. I live in TEXAS; 10 months without rain, consecutive days over 100 degree weather YIPPY~ 4-5 settings don't work!! Why didn't anyone tell me earlier not to buy this piece of crap! I'm not an electrician, well that goes for 90% of us eh! But got the left stuck light; fixed by myself pulling out the main module board, de-soldering the chip, and putting in a new one I ordered off line. Air bag lights always on; check under seat plugged in all the way still light. UGH, it goes on and on.

I have an 03 Tib V6 with the the 6 speed. I have owned it for about 5 years now. Currently it has 90,000 miles.
Wow, I had to laugh at a lot of these comments, because it looks like many people have the same issues I have experienced. This is car is a love/hate relationship for me. It is a very fun car to drive, gets good MPG, looks pretty good, and gets a lot of compliments.
With that said, here is my list of issues:
Replaced the radiator, A/C problems, replaced driver's side window motor, remote door locks don't function properly, rear brake light replaced, alignment issues, eats tires like candy, had to bypass clutch safety switch, eats batteries, body panels bend/dent like a beer can, problems with the parking brake seizing up during extreme cold weather (ha ha, don't even think about driving this roller skate on serious ice and snow).
Replacing plugs and wires is no problem.. LOL that is if you don't mind taking off the intake.
Cheap leather on the seats, don't even think about using the back seat; that is unless you know a double amputee.
Replaced the struts and mounts, rear window defroster is a joke, and most recently replaced the Infiniti system with a Pioneer bluetooth head unit, replaced the subwoofer with a Pioneer subwoofer, and about the time I was figuring everything out on the new stereo (which sounds awesome), here we go with the check engine light, and the headlights quit working on low beam.
So in a nutshell, if you are the kind of person that has a lot of money to spend on maintenance, and not a lot spend on a car, this pile might be for you... with all that said... this thing will pay for itself when you stick your foot to the floor... that is if the gas pedal doesn't break off or get stuck, then you get in a high speed rollover and burn up because the freaking electric windows don't work and the door locks are stuck closed... but you looked cool for a split second...
Thanks Hyundai... you get the lemon award for the 2003 Tib GT...
